what are some of your thoughts for improvements to be made in the online section of the game? Maybe some of PD's employees will look here and implement them

- more restriction choices: What if I want a race to feature pre-1970 cars with no upgrades, bone stock? I'm outta luck

- Ability to have car and credit rewards: What I mean by this is I want to have a 25 lap 'ring challenge and the winner gets one of my cars and 1,000,000 of my credits.

- better penalty system

For the time strapped, some form of matchmaking would be good, also the ability to set up a championship/ series of races, with a simple points system and a token trophy at the end :)
Stat tracking would be nice aswell. Some fun modes like Forza's tag would be great too..................... I know none of this will happen, I am sadface.

I agree on the penalty system, absolutely needs to be fixed. I love Circuit de la sarthe, but people cut the Ford chicanes and the Dunlop chicanes with the strong penalty on. It's rediculous. :grumpy: But the car and credit rewards, I think people would abuse that. Don't you think?

I was thinking about it and how can you abuse it?

People putting up high credit and expensive prize cars for short one lap races.

I propose mainly usability improvements:

- PP restriction filtering (low/high/range)
- Tire restriction filtering
- Remember filtering options after exiting an online room or the open lounge
- User-presets for online room creation settings
- Toggle text censorship on/off

These alone would enhance greatly the online experience and wouldn't take much time to implement. But as probably nobody at PD has actually played the game seriously I'm not surprised they haven't been yet.

First of all i would like PD to fix all the online connection problems!
And here are some ideas from me:

"Clean racer bonus". This system would reward clean driving.
Racers who NEVER had body contact. Or just did some paint scratches. Should be, say level 10. Then you would get 10x the amount of XP and cash compared to a level 1 driver for finishing a race.
Drivers should start on level 1.
It should be possible to go down to -5. People who crash hard into others, wreck alot, bumps several cars of the track in one race should achieve a negative level.
It should take a lot of races to get up in level. But you should easily go down a level or 2.

more restriction choices Like said in first and previous post

Gambling mode
Okay, i just watched The fast and the furious, and was inspired be the first post.
It would be fun to race for cash. Or pink slips.
All players would have to be ghosts, so no cheating.
Or, the system had to be combined with "clean racer bonus" in some way..

These would all be a huge help.

I would also add if plausible:
- Restricting cars to stock parts(tires excluded for obvious reasons)
- Restricting use of ABS
- Host being able to view entrant details as well as kick(and the rest able to mute people) from pausing while out on the track
- Separate setting for collision vs other penalties(barring a better detection system for both)
- Restricting to cars from your garage, not the recommended list
- Treat X2010 & FGT like the F1 cars, all or none

Forgot about these as well:

- Double the number of allowed characters for online room titles, and so on for western users. It's unfair that japanese (or more in general, asian) users can write much more descripting titles within the same space limitations.
- Online rooms "welcome" messages. They could be used, among other things, to explain in short room/hoster/racing rules and so on.
- Make cars' mileage increase at all times when driving online, even during free runs which often can be longer than the actual races (not to mention free run only/cruise rooms).
- Make the grip reduction off the track setting as default to Real instead of Low. After all fuel and tire depletion is already default on. Alternatively, move it to the "driving aids" tab instead of the "track options" tab, as it already is during offline racing. Because of this, online many people seem to forget about this setting, leaving it to Low even after disabling all driving aids.
- General mute button for voice chat, disabling it completely until toggled off again
- Game options access without leaving the room

I wish lobby hosts could inspect every aspect and setting of a person's car, and only approved cars are allowed on the track.

Better physics for jump tracks
I have a great jump track pm me if you want it

- Option for racing 'stock' . In other words, expand the recommended cars option to every car in the game.

- Option for real contact. I understand the reason for the 'ghost approach', but, especially when you are racing among friends/fair people, I don't like the overlapping of cars in the turns. It makes the race smoother but it's unreal.

- Improve penalty system. 2 wheels ALWAYS on the tarmac (I agree with previous posts, some tracks, especially La Sarthe, allow you absurd cuts)

- Qualify session

- Rolling start option for every race

- 3 tuning settings slots for each car (A, B ,C like in Prologue), possibly with a little text comment

- Option to force the cockpit view (where applicable). It would be more realistic.

- The race results should have the best lap of each driver

- Race start Timer visible also on the track (now you can see it only in the room screen)

- Online Lobby Filter for No Driving Line

A lot of these ideas are really interesting. I've been racing and organizing serious online GTP racing championships since release and you guys have come up with things I wouldn't have even thought of. Why can't you guys make GT5!?

Anyway, the only thing I really care about that would bring GT5's online component up an infinite number of notches is fixing the ridiciculous draft.

Wanna know how bad it is? It's so bad that I actually look forward to NOT having a ridiculous race-breaking draft in other racing games as a FEATURE. A feature ladies and gentlemen. This-is-wrong.

Just a few of the online host race settings i would like to see are ;

- being able to select what country of origin cars you would like to race - e.g. Germany only, Germany vs Japan etc

- engine sized races - e.g. 2000cc to 2500cc etc

- drivetrain specific races

- car year of manufacturing races - e.g. 60's only, 60's vs 70's etc

- Car specific races / Race car class races - e.g. Station Wagon only, Mini only, Touring Cars only, Le Mans only. etc etc etc etc

- Track playlist

Adding these features surely can't be that hard, it allows the host greater flexibility on what races / car types can be choosen and also saves the host from reminding and kicking those who cannot follow the rules......then again what do i know

Another important usability suggestion:

- Enable the selection of car/car settings/aids settings online while the track is loading. That would save much time.

Cars going the wrong way need to be made invisible.
On cruise rooms where it's allowed to go backwards by agreeing beforehand whether to keep left or right it would be a nuisance, though.

The biggest thing is they need to add a greater incentive to race clean and to finish the race. Add stats to the game that track things such as crashes and races finished, then allow lobbies where restrictions can be made based on these stats. Right now I'm thinking of the type of stats/restrictions they had for the NASCAR series on PC. It usually led to great lobbies with clean and fast racing. Also the online networking is bad. It's not easy to always have a good online experience without dedicated servers.
