I am an avid gamer, but I do not play as much today as I used to do before. I am mostly an fps gamer but I have for the time being taken a break from it and play some older games from my backlog on Steam as it is nice with a change and I do not have to worry about upgrading my system yet.
However I also like racing-games or games in general where you drive and I have been using a Logitech DFP which for me has been ok enough but with todays tech I assume that I would want a new wheel as it is old now.
I initially as I posted in the CSW thread though about purchasing that one but I am a bit scared, it has some motor problems as I have been reading, and it is the most expensive option for me. In addition I am a little bit skeptical price wise as I am not sure if I would be able to justify the cost vs usage, gaming as a hobby can be quite "on and off". Another issue is that for now I can not buy rims and swap them myself free of choice I have to stick to what Fanatec release and go with the flow.
Another option is the Trustmaster 500RS wheel, it is quite a bit cheaper then the CSW and I think for me it might be a bit more fair value and as I can see I can get the Derek adapter and buy rims myself and switch as I please. However I got some questions about the T500RS, and I wonder, does the wheel make alot of noise when it is turned while gaming (I think it makes more then the CSW), it is a big thing for me, as my old DFP makes quite a bit and kills the immersion. Also is the fan problem still existant or have they upgraded the interior so it is better now?
The third and final option that I can think of it to get an G27 from Logitech and get an adaptor for it, it would be the cheapest option but I would like to get something else then the stock pedals and H-pattern shifter.
I also do not have a cockpit yet but I think from my research that the Obutto R is the best choice for me and also it looks to be good value for the money. In addition I have pretty much made up my mind that it makes most sense to get the CSS from Fanatec.
I am not going to purchase this equipment just yet I guess it might be done sometime near or perhaps at the end of autumn, but I like to make up my mind at an early stage since it is an investment afterall in once hobby.
Sorry for the long post but I got no personal expericene with any of these wheels though I have read alot on the forum but it is difficult to filtrate the information sometimes for me.
A very important point for me is that I generally do not like FFB that much, I preferred with my DRP to drive without it, also the ability to change rims is important for me.
Finally I got to say that are there any information about new wheels coming out, it would hurt a bit to purchase something expensive only to see it being "old" a few months later, this would of course be most sad in relation to the CSW, but yet again it is the newest product of the ones I ma considering, but also the least realistic one.
I am based in Europe by the way.
