Hey people!
I'm creating a PS3 theme using Photomode pics from people in the forum.
Well in the next update I'm looking to include the sounds from the GT5 menu (cursor movement, selecting an item, going back in the menu) as the sounds for the XMB.

As I'm not particularly kitted out with any fancy (or even basic) recording type hardware I would like you guys to help me out :)

Basically I'm looking for high quality sound clips of the menu sounds that can replace the XMB ones :)

If you could help me do this I'll be very grateful and will acknowledge you in the theme info/description.

You could post them file hosting sites such as media fire or I can PM you and we can sort something out.

Thanks in advance! 👍 :dopey:

PS: I wasn't sure what section this should be posted in so I'm guessing some of you might have the same thought. I PM'ed a Mod and this is the direction I was pointed

all you would really require was a 3.5mm jack to jack cable plugging one end into the output of your headphone jack on the tv and the other directly into the soundcard ... any old recording software and you're good to go 👍

thesuperfunk is right. it's not too hard.

where u plug ur speakers/headphones into your pc or laptop; there should be another 3.5mm jack or two there for mic/line in. route the audio from your tv/ps3 into that. then you can record with a program as simple as (in windows) /all programs/accessories/sound recorder.

and you'll learn a lot by doing it :)

In case you didn't know, the theme's that were awarded to all participants in the US GT Academy use the game's menu sounds.

Ahhhhh I see! Thanks!
Makes sense now:)👍
I'll have to have a go at this, might be a bit awkward though, getting all my stuff down to the computer haha

Oh really? Well now there's a free version :sly:

check out the link in the 1st post for the current/old versions. I'll post it there when its done so subscribe :)

I can do this if you want, i've got the game running right now, so I could do it right now. :)

Ask a stupid question .... but how I can I create a theme? Is it easy to do?

It shouldn't be that hard. Here's a tool, which looks very easy: PS3 Theme Builder

There's also a Extractor tool to unpack a Playstation 3 Theme file (.p3t).

I was thinking about modifying the GT5 Prologue theme. Replacing the backround images with my own photos from GT5. And maybe use the menu sounds from the animated GT5 theme. :)

That would be AWESOME if you could! I'm after the direction sound, select sound and back sound :)

it is pretty easy once you get started

personally i use the sample files directly from the sony files and edit the XML file myself, can be much easier and helps you uderstand what you're doing

I'm right on it, won't be long :)

The .wav files wont work for the theme builder as they need to be in the .vag (Sony PS3/PSP) format - I've converted them for you, and also put the small converter program in a zip for you here.

Oh I see, I didn't know I would need .vag for the theme sounds.

Thanks for the tool, will make good use of it :)

I never realised too until I looked and saw it only accepts .vag - typical Sony locked-down proprietary formats!
