For a few years, the city I live in was, since the beggining of December, gearing up for the start of the Dakar Rally.

I watched them all leave to Africa in 2006 and 2007. The cars and trucks were impressive, but the real "heros" (cheered by the crowd as such) were the dozens of bikers, departing all geared up in those very tall bikes that made them look something between middle age knights (in "not so shining" armour) and sci-fi aliens.

I miss those moments, I miss that rally.

So, I thought it was apropriate to remember them now, with these three amazing videos that portray the madness - and greatness - of it all. With a special rememberance - in the Fabrizio Meoni tribute - to all, from famous top drivers to unknown amateurs, that have fallen in this rally.

Fabrizio Meoni, the man whose death took all his fans (among them myself) and also his rivals (among them Cyril Despres and Marc Coma) to tears
