Turn off the HUD, yes or no, or partially?

I don't want the HUD to be removed. They look futuristic and great. I do pay attention more at the car's gauges when I'm in interior view but come on it's just HUD for crying out loud

I got nothing against the looks of the HUD itself, I just don't see the point of having a HUD in cockpit view. It's supposed to be as realistic as possible, and in reality, I don't have a HUD. Therefore, it should be removable. Otherwise, cockpit view makes little sense.

True, but, in real life you have a lot of things that you don't have in the game, like a sense of how fast you're actually going for one thing, so you rarely need a flashing number to tell you how fast you should be going. On a track, maybe you do, since there's nothing vertical near the track to tell you how fast you're going. On the road, you have lines, pavements, trees, street lights and the view out of your side windows, the sound of the wind hitting your car and so on so you know when you're going too fast because things don't feel right. In GT5p, you don't get that, well not so much anyway, so the HUD really helps but only because it tells you to slow down for a corner if you're going too fast.

Apart from that and lap times, the rest of the HUD is pretty pointless, but I'm sure an option to turn it off will be in GT5, it was in GT4 at least. I tried it then, though, and hated it.

I think you are missing the point.. the thread is not about PD having to remove the HUD yes or no, but to make it optional for those who could do without a HUD.. now we are stuck with it.. whether you like the HUD or not.

The concept of making it optional.. that's what it's about.

For the people worried about the turn off feature... it's an option guys, it can't be bad.

You can either hold a button and make everything disappear (a la old Need for Speed games) or pause the game and enter a menu with the options:

Dials on/off
Track on/off
Position on/off

(like Colin McRae 2 had it)

Nobody loses with more customization, it's win/win 👍

Voted partially, because I want the option to turn it back on if NO-hud is too different. But I would like to try it out. I racer bumper view, thats why I need to know how fast I'm going. Maybe an option to choose exactly what you want on or off, that would be perfect for everyone.

Be nice to have HUD off. Or pick one by one what to turn off... I would like to keep only my MAP , and since I play cockpit view 60% I want everything off except map.
It be nice to have it on when you PAUSE the game.

And offcourse, at replays.. it would be nice to check the data during the replays.

Bumping a thread is not allowed here.
Only post something when it's useful information.

I voted 'yes', but I'd really like the option to customize the HUD.
I have an old TV and while in most cars the dials are pretty clear, it's stilll hard to get a good readout of speed. I would like to be able to have the speed and gearbox visible. Or just the map... you never know. It would be great (and not that big of a deal one would think) to give the option to switch each element on or off (and maybe change the size, but that's pushing it I'm afraid).

I voted 'yes', and i like the option that you can adjust the seat position, up, down, front, back. Like GTR evo.

It makes no difference to me, so i voted no. I just like to be awkward. ;)

I don't do right hand drive cars, it's REALLY WEIRD. I don't always use the in-car view, it's not perfect. Plus, there is something missing in giving the sense of where you are on the track compared to cars around you. Not being able to communicate makes matters worse.
