The biggest new feature added in GT4 was probablly B-Spec Mode. This allowed you to be director and command the car while you drink your Coke. It was a lifesaver for those races you just couldn't win or were simply to long *cough* every 8+ hr enduro *cough*

What if this was extended into A-Soec? As you race, you can custom create little pop up alerts, triggered by passing a certain point on the track, or by tires and fuel.
If the location triggers could be put anywhere, you could have brake references for turns that are otherwise difficult to judge, or to help with hard to see pit entries. You can have things like "Fuel low; pit within 2 laps", "Brake here", "pit entrance 100m on the right", "Your tires are shot. Pit, dumbass!" etc.

The tire/fuel alerts could even be programmed with mileage, so depending on the track length and distance to the pits, it could tell you exactly how many laps left you have, and remind you each following lap.

I would love to see a feature like this in GT5. What does everyone else think?

There ARE things like that.

Fuel low: Look at the fuel guage.

Brake here: That's just stupid, but they already have the flashing red numbers(which I turn off).

Pit entrance 100m on thr right: If you're racing long enough to need to pit then you're going to know where the pit lane is and when you should brake for it. Not only that, but there are pit signs out there already.

Tires: On screen tire guages not enough for you? Besides, you should be feeling when you need to pit. (lack of grip in the form of understeer/oversteer, no grip when accelerating, etc.)

Everything you suggested is already in the game.

If the player can't drive without those things you suggested then they'll probably not even finish the race.

So you've never tried squeezing one or two extra laps out of those orange tires or last unit of fuel to keep a lead, only to fall short? And you've never missed a needed pit opportunity because the track runs together after 2 hours of constant racing? I'm not saying you would need these very much. But there are times they can be handy. You wouldn't even need to have them turned on if you don't want them. It was just an idea I thought would be interesting, that's all.

In the options menu I think.

On topic, I don't see the need for any more markers, I've never once had trouble seeing a pit entrance, by the time I need to pit, I know where it is and I have done 2+ hour races and still been able to see the pit entrance. If you try to run extra laps when youre tyres are showing as worn on the current indicator and lose out, then what do you expect. Having a message flash up is'nt going to change that, you'll either try to finish anyway or pit whether it's a tyre gauge or a message on screen. I don't think theres anything in your idea thats needed, we already have everything ncluding when to slow down for a corner, when the recommended gear comes up, thats when you need to be looking to slow down. Ofcourse thats not the fastest way to lap a track, but to achieve the fastest laps you shoul;dn't be using anything like that anyway.

No criticism for having the idea, I just don't think theres any point in changing what we have. I'd merely expand what we have when GT get's damage and more factors like engine temp ect.

No I always plan my races pit strategy by doin a test run then actually racin. The thing that I want is to be able to do is make adjustments on your car at pit stops. Like tire pressure, which tires you want to change, wedge ( sorry for nascar terminology dont know if its called somthin else in raod racing ), and stuff like that.

Thanks, I don't think they do that at all in road racing, the weights only adjusted front to back. It makes sence to do it on an oval though.

True it would make more sense in road racing to do it front to back rather than side to side.
