In-race save and GAP

Hello guys, I'm in the middle of the 24h of nurburgring, and when I save and then resume the race, it seems that the AI lose a lot of time in the process. When I saved yesterday I was 3 minutes and 40 seconds ahead the second, but when I resumed the race today the gap surprisingly increased to 4,40 minutes!
Is the AI penalized by the use of resume function?
 
No there is a glitch in the Save function. Its normally fixed after next pit stop, if Im not mistaken.

Examples:
Sometimes you save in the rain and its dry when you restart, or the opposite.
Sometimes the AI will get the Super Soft Tires we cant use thanks to PD.
And there might be a few other odd save glitches I cant remember.
 
Ah I see. Sometimes when I resume the race it displays 100% humidity on the road and in the prewiev of the track it's raining, but when the race actually starts, it's dry as it was when I saved. Is the rain making the AI change tires and, consequentially, lose time?

Can I ask if you can save while doing the 24 hours of Nurb? And how can you do that?

Go into the pits and select "Suspend Race". The feature was added over a year ago.
 
And then how do you resume the race?
 
Load the game up. It loads automatically back into the race preview screen, from where you can cancel or continue.
