Besides putting on rain tires. What else can I do to improve driving in the rain. I suck at it! Also, when the race starts, how do I know to use intermediate tires or rain tires. Does it give a weather report somewhere I'm not aware of that would promt me to use the proper tires?

Racing softs really help in the rain.

Use racing softs unless your in arcade or online with grip reduction set to "real".
Short shifting will probably help as well, and just be easier on the throttle in general. Slower transitions, etc. Mostly just practice finding the limits in the rain, same as you did for the dry.

Check the weather in the 'cutscene' above the menu before you start the race.

Increasing downforce helps with grip in the wet too.

no, no, no. racing intermediate.......i have a hell of a time using rain-softs.

If you did the AMG Special Events, it would tell you to not use the dry racing line.

Yep, in the wet use the "Karting" line - there's more grip on the outside of the bends. The normal racing line is rubbered in and the water sits on the rubber making it slippier.

In the game this is true? Damn that's realism...

You wish PD was that detailed.

You wish PD was that detailed.

Well gt5 says it is that detailed. It says in the amg special event the normal driving line will not work. The game says it is that detailed

Additionally, if BEFORE the race, then soften up the suspension generally may help. If it starts raining WHILE the race lasts, then consider the abova as obsolete :)

You car also may get aquaplaning earlier, when the chassis is lowered to the max. Try to keep this in mind.
