Inappropriate Ads?

Perhaps mom & pop should really be telling their son a site like that is more than likely a scam & not a dirty website.

Plenty of these date sites are nothing beyond PG-13 these days.

Even if it doesn't link to a dirty website the average parent probably doesn't want them looking a scantly clad girls, whether the girls are nude or not, or whether they will see more revealing clothes by just walking outside.

And I'm almost certain this is the reason Wallrunner, a 14 year old male, would want to get rid of these ads. Not because he doesn't want to look at girls or is worried that he's going to get hooked into a scam, but because he doesn't want his parents to freak out on him.

Again, when I say date sites are hardly beyond PG-13, I mean there is nothing like the ad. The only sites I see date ads featuring NG-17 content are sites that aren't NSFW to begin with.

Perhaps his parents should simply tell him to not click on those sites. My father told me such things, and I was smart enough to listen and I'm confident that at least most of our members like wallrunner would do the same.

Mainly because of Parents. We have a number of younger members here and if a mom was to walk by and see one these ads they could get into serious trouble and not be allowed to come back to GTP.

No I just felt like posting because I had no real opinion on this.

Why do you think he made a thread about it? Because he doesn't want to look at a hot girl.

I am very disappointed with the quality of these ads that Google is serving. I have moved them up to our second tier show they are (were) handling most of our excess page views. Because they pay on per-click basis, they try to help you [the publisher] by showing the ads that statistically get the most clicks... I think you get the idea. Anyway, I have blocked that particular ad and will be changing up our ad structure.

I'm not sure if this is just my computer or not but I just got a pop up box asking me to scan for viruses when I visited a thread. I clicked 'cancel' and it took me back to the thread but was displaying the scanner ad in the banner section.

If it's not the site and it's just my computer, has anyone got any decent adware scanners for MacOS 10.3?

It has to be the site – no adware currently exists for Mac OS. Plus, I’ve run across a similar thing on another forum.

Yes, it was probably coming from one of our lower-tier advertisers. I noticed that a less scrupulous network was buying some space from one of them and running their own ads in there - it's probably where it came from.

This is what you will always have to deal with as long as you allow "Google" on your site!
I could also do without them post by "Sponsors"

It's easier to deal with advertisers than it is to bear the full cost of running the site. You can remove the "Sponsor" posts and all other ads by signing up for GTPlanet Premium.
