Why do I see this a lot? Look at neon_duke's line. See how it says he is just viewing a forum, but it doesn't say which forum? But for everyone else it says what forum. I see this all the time and I think it is always neon_duke. I haven't noticed it for the other mods.

So what's the deal with that?

From what I observed, I think it happens when someone goes inactive for a little time it just says that. . .
 
vBulletin has a time out feature...when someone doesn't refresh or load a new Forum page, eventually that user's "session" times out. Right before the user is dropped from "Who's Online" it will change the last page the user was on to the "Viewing forum" message...
 
Thta's possible, too. I do tend to leave a window open in the background even when I'm not actively cruising, so maybe the session does time out.

Actually, it could happen when I'm on the laptop, which sleeps pretty frequently and goes instantly to sleep when closedt, dumping it off the network with a GTP window open and my username logged in.
 
I'm almost positive he's viewing one of the moderator's forums that you don't have access to.
 
Yeah, I forgot about the hidden forums...

I have seen non-mods get that "Viewing Forums" message at the GTF, which I attributed to the time out function...but I also used to see "guests" sending a PM and performing Mod duties as well. It's funny how folks will sometimes click a link/button to see what it does.
 
I have also seem Boom "Viewing Forum". Privilaged elitists.

What irritates me though is when a member has clearly logged off (or so i think) , yet Who's Online still shows them a viewing a forum. This may continue until the "incognito member" is a hour behind the current forum time. Guess it may have something to do with what Duke said - sleep functions and such :grumpy:
