Indy 500, worst car to win?

I just tried my first A spec endurance race ever. I wanted some suspense and a bit of a challenge so I used the: Ford GT LM Race Car Spec II (fully loaded with special Indy tune).

I was mostly in 1st place for about 20 laps, thinking this could be fun. But then I realized I was running out of gas, and really running out of tire tread. I thought I heard that the AI pits in the 30's, so I figured this is a loss, let's see what happens. Blowout at 200 after a few more laps. AI did not pit until the mid 30's, and the other cars go about 2 laps for each stop, so your car needs good endurance for an endurance race, who knew?

I'll go back and kill them with some overpowered car some other day, but I was wondering with all the sick drivers here, what is the worst car anyone ever used and won this race?
 
My best and worst was the FGT because that's the only one I've ever used.
 
What cars are in the Indy 500 again? Is it Le mans cars?
 
A red bull x1 is quite possibly the worst car to run with as you win by over thirty laps and is no fun. Try the stock Audi r8 lmp or a c class racer as theyre faster but less efficient than the diesels so that's quite a good one.
 
I hate endurance races. I get so damn bored that I have to have the most powerful car allowed by that race.
 
The vehicles used in the Indy 500 are the LMP class vehicles. I used a Pescarolo Hydride - Judd for that particular race, and still had a huge lead on the AI. You should look at your opponents and adjust accordingly. This first endurance race used Japanese tuner imports, so work from there.
