Hey guys,

I just got my new computer, a Dell Inspiron E1405 and I was wondering where you guys would rate on a scale of 1-10. Its got:
1gig of ram
80mb of harddrive
14.1 widescreen (laptop)
comes with 3 years of McAfee
5.3 pounds
on sale for $850 or so

1-10? Thanks

Or a graphics card. :p

Other than that, I wouldn't recommend Dell Laptops what-so-ever as the last 2 we've had have been a mass of problems. If it's to suit your needs, though, I guess I can't complain.

Don't get McAfee virus thing, it really messes your computer up, it messed up this Dell I have when I first got it. Get AVG for free. BEST out there for free in my opinion. And as long as your processor is a dual core, I'm guessing you'd be fine.

It's a Dell :D.

Plus, 80MBs won't even hold Windows XP .
80 MB won't be enough if you plan to rip 300 CDs to it, and play 10 games for it, but if you're just going to edit some photos and browse the web and all, 80 is more than enough. It's almost overkill.

EDIT: I see what you mean. Was confusing MB with GB.

1/10

80 MEGS?! My PSP memory stick holds almost 7 times as much, and it's the approximate size and weight of a postage stamp!

Come on, Corey. Why a Dell!? My Dell has 56 GB harddrive, but its really slow.

One question though, how much did it cost?

Yeah, i think we established that he means GB...

I expect he's one of the thousands of people who buy dells because they "have good customer support". Am i right? :dopey: You might have insurance, but it doesn't mean that you won't be devastated when your house burns down for the 8th time...

Hey now, I am a happy Dell customer. :D

As for the topic; the rating really depends on what you're going to do with your computer. Just browsing, email, music? Are you taking the laptop everywhere or will it sit on your desk? Also, processor and graphics information would be helpful.

Jon.
Wow... hold on, is it a desktop? As far as i know, it's mainly the laptops that are stupid.

Desktop. I didn't want a laptop but needed something small for the dorm room, as well as something I could easily take home during breaks. At the time the 4700C was a very good price (thanks to the university's deal). Most of the problems people have with Dells probably have something to do with Windows, but that's been taken care of. :p

Edit: I should mention that this thing is loud. So change "happy Dell customer" to "content Dell customer"

Ahh, that explains it then :p

I am over exagerrating a bit, though. You'll probably be problem free, if you keep it nice and cool. Well, cool enough that it won't toast bread.

I have a relative with an E1405, actually. The only problem he's had is with the soundcard, actually. It just won't accept a USB device as a microphone. It's fine one minute, then it shouts white noise at you...
