Install game data

So...I'm trying to install the 8 gigs of data onto my playstation 3 so GT5 supposedly runs smoother. However, it seems to just sit on the "Installing data..." screen claiming it'll be done in 20 minutes and it's blinking install. Does it really take this long? And why doesn't the time counter go down at all? Is it my PS3 glitching out?

Does this install require an internet connection?

Ya, mine said 43 minutes left for about 20 minutes.
