INSURANCE feature in GT4!

Hey i was just wondering what if GT4 had a insurance feature! That would be kinda cool because then you would be careful how you drive money also gets spent. ANyone else think this a good idea i think its great.

Good idea but I don't see it working, insuring a car for racing is not the same as insuring one for road use, without damage theres not much point.

Yeah so this would be most likely be used for a high end pc racing game such as Toca 2.

Hmm, but Toca isn't about managment of your car like GT, it would fit into GT more than any other racing game I can thin of now but it would need to wait until GT features damage, but GT4 is rumoured to have mechanical damage.

If they did implement such a feature they should make it optional, if you don't take the insurance and you crash then you pay full repair costs, then maybe you could have different levels of insurance for example you can pay 50,000Cr for 50 days insurance and the halves any and all repair costs but if you pay 75,000Cr that takes off 80% of the repair costs ect. You would have to balance out what you buy if you actually get insurance by how good at not crashing you are. If your very skilled then you probably wouldn't get any but for players that might crash a few times per race it could be worth it.

This might be an idea if this game had the most incredible damage system ever. As it stands it doesn't.

Thats why i mentioned a high end pc game with damage but still it would be very changleing for example you can go bankrupt and lose i am not saying this is good its just a way of making more thoughtful descscsions. Mechanincal damage huh sounds pretty good but no visual not good.

I don't think it should be game over if you go bankrupt. As long as you have a car and can still race to make money, I think you should go into the minus Cr and you can't purchase anything until you get back above it.

Hmm, I think live4speed's idea is an excellent one actually, that'd be a great system; the question is, do we actually have stuff to damage?

I hate dealing with insurance in real life - why would I want to deal with it in a game. Well, except maybe The Sims (admittedly, mostly fire insurance as I once again forget to install a smoke detector).

You can revel in insurance the way it ought to be, which I'm sure is a company motto I've heard somewhere.

I won't bother with insurance in the unlikely event it appears; if I crash my car and damage it, so be it, I'll pay the price.

And your claim will not be paid as you were using the car for racing which as detailed in the small print states " you are not covered for racing"

Insurance is just plain dumb. Why would PD even impliment it?
If they did, we will be having dumb ass complaints about how crappy the AI insurance is in GT4. Just like crappy tyre life and oil in GT3.

I can see some logic and merit to including it but we're deviating too far from what the game's about - driving and racing. We're here to do things we wouldn't in real life, messing around with insurance is hardly a fun aspect of driving life I can see people lobbying for.

I wonder if we'll be able to file a lawsuit in GT4 if our insurance company decides to not pay us if we have a claim. It happens all the time in the real world.

I'm not going to go on a bashing spree, but I think a DRIVING simulator with insurance intact? What if you're broke as a joke and can't even afford a 1989 Honda CRX? That is pretty weird if you ask me. I'm not big on insurance. Heck, mine is in my parents' name. The only way insurance would work is if GT4 was devoted to illegal street racing, and people drive worse than NASCAR drivers on restrictor plate tracks or Martinsville. Then what kind of company would it be called? What, the "Im'a Fix Yo' A$$ Up Insurance?" "Drunk Racer's Insurance?" "Dale Earnhardt Auto Insurance?" "CobraGT's Auto Insurance?" Or what? I thought my weird idea wasn't perceived very well, you did one better, Pimp Racer.

But, no. No insurance for GT4. Don't see it happening. Even if GT4 was about a pure sim of the life of a race car driver and you could actually appoint lawyers, still don't see it happening. Sorry, dude.

as long as we are gonna have GT4 insurance, I want to be the first to get in my GT4 psyche claim.

After maxing out my Speed 12, I had 14 AI-controlled cars smack into the front of it. Now my insurance is 90,000cr per race, and I can't sleep at night. The way I see it, PD owes me 14 million cr for pain and suffering, because I can't afford to race.
