The GTPlanet World Rally Championship

This series is where rally fans gget to test their skills against other in a bid to become World Champion. I got the inspiration from watching Rally World on Motors TV. Hopefully we should get a good turn out and that should lead to a cracking season.

The General Layout

OK, here's how I am planning to run this. There will be 5 classes of car. These are:

Group A (WRC cars with about 250-300hp)
Group B (WRC cars from 1981-1986)
Group N (Production-based rally cars)
Historic (Rally Cars from the '60s and '70s + a selection of classic cars)
Ulimited FF (Front-wheel drive hot hatches with a hp limit of 300)

If you have any suggestions or queries, just post them her and I will answer them as best as possible.

Each driver can choose 3 classes he would like to run in (e.g. Group B, Group N and Super 1600). Now , I don't just want a load of people who and gonna pick Groups A, B and N. I would like people to try out Group 4 and Super 1600. I didn't put them up for nothing you know!

Here is how the points will work out. They follow the same systme as the FIA:

1st place: 10 pts
2nd place: 8 pts
3rd place: 6 pts
4th place: 5 pts
5th place: 4 pts
6th place: 3 pts
7th place: 2 pts
8th place: 1 pt

THANKS! SEE YA AROUND!

PLEASE SPECIFY WHICH CARS YOU WILL USE FOR THE ENTIRE SEASON, I.E. THE SAME CAR FOR ALL THE EVENTS!!!

PLEASE ALSO PUT THE LINK TO THIS THREAD IN YOUR SIGS IF YOU ARE TAKING PART. THANK YOU!

OMG! U took my idea dude! Well shoot man, looks like I'm in. I was gonna pitch the idea around beg. of Nov when the Muscle Car Series is done, I've been craving this one for a while, since we dont rally much in the WRS, and haven't really done a rally race except forthe BC5. Well anyway, time depending I want in and may not do the Nurb series...hhmm.....

do it, do it, sounds good

So many things to enter after AMC!! My mind is boggled! I was just thinking about something like this today....

I suck at rally....you can count me out!!!

Plus I've been cutting back on GT4 the past few weeks

It does sound interesting, I've been looking to do more rally events in GT4.

It's a nice spread of cars too. I'm a bit hesitant about allowing wall touches in hotlaps, because it then becomes very subjective about whether it helped someone or not. For multi-lap races some touches should be permitted.

Would we keep the same cars throughout the season?

I think the Super Rally car would be too fast for the other Group B cars.

As for Super 1600, you'll need to work out a Power/Weight ratio balancing system to get some of those cars competitive. The Clio (in the game) is 2.0, and would kill all of those cars. I don't think it counts. I'm assuming the 1600's will be modified TO 200hp?

Maybe instead of Super 1600's, or in addition to it, you can have an unlimited FF class (capped at 300hp). Unlimited would work with less balancing because it's damn near impossible to rally over 250hp in an FF car.

Additional Note: Above comment means that the Focus RS will NOT be competitive on rally stages with Group N cars, because it is FF. I've tried it, and it's hard to get it to compete with even 80's cars. The Focus, the SRT4 (and yes, it does rally) and any other high powered FF should go in a separate category.

Rally Deutschland? That's got to be the Nurburg... on N-tires.

Interested. Gotta make sure I can make time for it.

This sounds sweet!
Count me in!

I just gotta decide between the Subby WRX or the Peugeot (sp?) 206! ;-)

I would love to join, coz i suck at rally! this is probably a good way to up my skillz! :D
but im kinda swamped with work and, til a certain date of course! what date are u planning this to happen?? I know this is still in the works.. just an estimate will be fine :)

I'm interested ... hopefully I can find time :)

Just one thing though ... there are three cars in 'Group B' that belong there, the rest will get left in the dust. The Ford RS200 Rally Car, the Peugeot 205 Evo II, and Lancia Delta S4 all have about 450hp and are 4WD, the rest of the cars in 'Group B' have 275-350hp.

The Mistubishi Evo Super Rally Car only has 300hp. It belongs with all the other modern WRC cars (it's actually a fair bit slower to drive than the '97 Evo Rally Car, in my experience).

The Stratos Rally car is MR (a huge disadvantage against 4WD cars on dirt and snow), and only has about 275hp.

The Nissan 240RS has ... wait for it ... 240hp, and is FR.

I could go on .... :p Sorry, don't mean to be so negative, just that some of the cars will never be competitive (meaning no one's going to want to drive them).

I disagree there dude. A nice EG-EK Civic will do wonders around some of the dirt tracks (Swiss Alps for one), and it gets around the 280hp mark. Personally, so long as it's UNDER 1.6L and is FF then I've got no beef with it. There's a few choices still:
*VW Lupo 1.4
*VW Lupo GTi
*VW Polo
*Ford Ka
*Opel/Vauxhall Corsa Comfort
*Opel/Vauxhall Tigra
*Honda CRX Ballade 1.5i
*Honda CRX SiR
*Honda Civic SiR
*Honda Civic Type R (EK)
*Nissan March G
*Toyota Yaris Turbo
*Toyota Levin BZ-R
*Mitsubishi Cyborg

Plenty of choices and there's a few I've missed there aswell.

Mafs!!

ok guys nice to see your interest and comments. i have noted the Unlimited FF suggestion and will change to that from the Super 1600.

well then if you're not gonna compete, then why the hell did you post here huh?

Any 'release date' set yet? Time is really a factor for me as I'm already doing the WRS and the AMC. But if it works out well I'll compete in the Group B, Historic and Group N.

please discuss in the sign-up thread. thank you. on the subject, are you just running in one class or will you be going for three.

Just one. I'm tied up enough as it is.
