I'm not sure how many of you online racers will have unlocked the Formula GT yet, so this is really a probe to see who has it and wants to race.

I want to host a mini championship (over a number of days) based on the famous American Indy Racing League, in the form of a one-make Formula GT race on the two oval circuits and three high speed road courses.

The series would culminate in a full length Indy 500. I think this has great potential for a lot of fun and exciting racing. Leave any thoughts you have here, and let me know if you are interested.
 
WOW the IRL getting some love from across the pond? I thought all you UK guys were just F1 fans. Sounds like a cool series... but I thought the FGT was really hard to get in the game so you might not get many takers. I'm only at level 19 so I ain't got one, but just wanted to give you the thumbs up for trying an IRL series.

As for tracks you could run Laguna since CART used to run there back in the days. Also one of the city tracks to simulate the temporary road circuits IRL runs. Even the Top Gear track could substitute for the airport circuit they run in Canada and the US from time to time. Thus this could actually be a pretty good take on IRL racing even if your stuck with just two ovals.

Not sure you could run a full length Indy 500, I thought you were limited to 99 laps online?

FYI - I've been to both the Homestead (three times) and Atlanta IRL races in the past.
 
Yes, I was planning to run Laguna Seca and a city circuit (not sure which one yet), but the Top Gear track is a good idea as well.

AFAIK you're limited to 200 laps online and 99 laps in arcade mode, so a full length Indy 500 would be possible.

Also, if someone could fill me in - is it possible to buy an FGT in any colour other than blue? I've heard that's all that has been showing up in the used dealership.

Anyone else interested?
 
I would be interested, but I do not know when I would ever be able to get the indy car... Seems neat..
 
Indeed. It might be better to wait until after Christmas for this, as not many people have the FGTs at the moment. Thanks for the interest though guys.

Whatever works. I've done a bit of thinking about this, but haven't got around to setting any rules in stone. I'd like to strike a balance between realism and ease/fun as far as possible.

Looks like there is potential here. If you guys want I could set up some preliminary races and then start the series in early January?
