FINAL OFFICIAL RULES

We will be using modern Le Mans cars. From the 1999 BMW LMR V12 Race Car to the 2004 Pescarolo Sport Judd C60.

If signups for the Superspeedway 150miles exceed 15 a GT class will be created

The Season will be 4 300km races, one 200 mile race, one 150 mile race, and one 2hr and 45minute timed race. 5 of them can be found under the endurance hall category. The other 2* are found in the F1 championship. They will be ran in the following order:

1. Superspeedway 150 miles
2. Tokyo R246 300km
3. Grand Valley 300km
4. Infineon World Sport Car Trophy (2hr 45min)
5. Laguna Seca 200 miles
6. Circuit de la Sarthe I 300km (from the F1 championship
7. Nurburgring 300km (from the F1 championship)

*subject to change

Elgibile cars:

BMW V12 LMR Race Car 1999
Toyota GT-One Race Car (TS020LM) 1999
Audi R8 Race Car 2001
Bentley Speed 8 2003
Pescarlo Judd C60 2004

Rules (Racing)

1. The races may be done entirely in A-Spec or B-Spec, or a mix of both. It is up to you.

2. Drivers will be required to record their time at specific lap intervals for a live race broadcast. This lap interval will be released in each race thread.

3. Drivers are required to record their total time, and at timed races they must also record their total lap count.

4. A race report of pitstops is required. Reports of incidents are not mandatory but will be appreciated.

5. You are not allowed to run a race multiple times.

6. The point system is like this:

1. 20
6. 11
11. 6
2. 15
7. 10
12. 5
3. 14
8. 9
13. 4
4. 13
9. 8
14. 3
5. 12
10. 7
15. 2

2 Bonus points will be awarded to the pole winner

Rules (Cars)

The horsepower of the cars must remain stock. The only allowable upgrade is tires, oil change and car wash. No nos or turbos.

Drivers are allowed to pick which car they want, and may change to another from race to race without penalty. This means you can use the same car for every race, or a different one for each race. It does not matter. Just use one of the 5 listed.

Questions:

If the cars are remaining stock, that's hardly fair, because from what I'm seen the 'Audi R8', is quicker than the rest, certainly quicker than the 'BMW LMR' (Which is a piece of poo).

Why use B-Spec at all if you're trying to find the "Mr. Endurance" of GTP? So if I am allowed one stint of B-Spec driving, can I just B-Spec 99 laps and A-Spec the last one? Anyone using B-Spec is losing about 10% of their A-Spec time PER LAP, that they use it anyway.

The fuel burn and the tyre wear would also differ for each car. Which makes things unfair.

How about, just making it one car, no B-Spec, that's it.

Maybe each week we all use the same car but the car selection varies. Theoretically you would get the best all around driver that way? Maybe the overall winner is determined by lowest accumulated time for all the events? But I guess the your points system should give you the same winner?

If Casio and Goix' run in this, I'll almost certainly do so as well 👍

yer i'll give this a go... pescarlo preferred

what about the pescarolo sport 03?

im not a fan of must use b-spec because, at sears point, youll have to hold your b-spec buddies hand if you want him fast and clean. might as well be driving if weve to go through the effort.

fwiw - with proper set up, cars are proving to be equal on r3s at least at laguna seca. alms/lmes @ laguna seca

First, glad to see the interest. Good to know I'm not the only endurance race fan here.

Here is the answer to EVERYONE'S questions and comments.

3 ways we can do this

1. you must use every car at least ONCE. Since there are 5 cars and 7 races you will be able to use your favorite car 3 times and the other 4 just once.

2. make a different car for each race mandatory.

3. Use one car for all 7 events

I prefer option number 2, but I will let you guys decide.

Using B-Spec was only introduced because I'm not sure if people here want to race long amounts of time or not. If A-Spec only is wanted, (and I wanted it A-Spec only all along), it shall be done.

some of you don't know me, but I can guarentee you this wont be a waste of your time. I will be here and post the results. I've wanted an online LeMans Endurance series even before they released GT4. I first thought we could actually race bumper to bumper online but this is the next best thing. This is not something thought of on the spur of the moment. I searched this website and others looking for an endurance serious. I couldnt find one so I will create my own. I'm serious and I want to get this done.

Again, this is not nothing new to me. I will be here, and if people sign up, it will be done.

Wow, I feel like you've just quoted everything I said. I hope you don't take it as I'm knocking this series. It's a great concept, and I like the idea of using every car at least once.

I will enter this as long as it doesn't start to soon, because I would not have enough time to do this, JGTC, AMC and WRS. Also, I think we all need to gather the funds to buy 15,000,000$ worth of cars!

I see you've basically put the races from shortest to longest, which is good. I'd really like to see a finish with the 4hr Nurb race, but with sports tyres only, I guess it's no go. Unless you just did an arcade mode race, put the maximum laps, and see who can race for half a day straight.

Overall, it's looking great. I hope I can join!

This is an excellent idea

Lets say the winner of the 150 miles of Superspeedway beats 2nd place time by 8 seconds and so on and son

1st 0hr 56.000 minutes (Driver A)

2nd -8.345 (Driver B)

3rd -12.343 (Driver C)

4th -15.343 (Driver D)

And so on

Now race at Tokyo R246 Driver B wins, but only by 3 seconds ahead of Driver A. The standings will look like this:

1st 2hr 33.433 minutes (Driver A)

2nd -5.345 (Driver B)

And so on

The same system as the Tour of France Bicycle race

This system is so good, it is possible for ANYONE, although unlikely, to win the championship in the last race. The top cars may spin alot, etc, who knows.

Very good idea

great idea!!! i love the lmes in real life (as well as ALMS, the series i am most familiar with) and id like to get involved with this series. i was wondering if there would be any way possible to develop LMP2, GT1, and GT2 classes. even if we could take normal cars (saleen s7, ruf rgt for gt1 and gt2 and maybe a 3400s and trick it out a lil to replace the Porsche LMP2 Spyder [just an idea]) that would be good enough for me. Anywho, please respond, thanks a lot.

I quoted everything you said Casio because I want to make sure everybody knows I'm listening to EVERY idea and comment. I would have liked to use some of the 4hr or 8hr enduros but they allow sport tires only. And you guys pick how we race the cars. I'll start the series no sooner than a month from now, I dont know how that affects your plans. Depends on the participants. what they want

Good to have an endurance fan on board. this series is for people like you.

I will develop another class if there is enough signups. I dont want to have 4 people run LMP1 and 4 run GT1.

Ask more questions. Comment more, I am here and will answer everything.

edit: I changed my mind about multiple classes. I wont do it to keep things simple. maybe if theres another series i will, but not this one

id prefer a-spec only. if youd like to cut down on time each person spends per-race, purhapes if you can get enough interest (granted your need 14 people to have a feild of 7) have two people per-car and run shorter races. then we simply combine the total times times for each driver and well have just one more part of true endurance racing. id rather trust another human too. but, this can be overly complex and checking times would just add more work. there doesnt seem to be enough interest atm either. :|

meh, id rather have a points system. this is a championship, not one big rally race.

id prefer option 3.

what about the 03 pescarolo sport? with the right set up, its still capable of keeping up.

This sounds like it could be a lot of fun! 👍

Would the whole race have to be clean?!

I thought the idea of time as a points system was cool but if you guys want normal points, so be it

and bigrew, you dont have to be clean the whole race, just try to be. If your un off course or cut a corner, just make sure it is on accident, not intentional

I will edit my first post in a couple of days with the final rules, so look out for it

Depending on other events at the time this series kicks off..I'd definitely be interested in taking the Audi R8! :-)

Is it only thoughs car listed? I thought it will be cool it would have GT cars.

Im wondering how tire testing will be done?Running hot laps on R5's will be fun to do but will give no feedback on how the cars will work on R2's w/tire wear.

A test session race (10-20 laps) at the same track could provide the data needed to setup the cars for the longer races.

Go to the actual race and run the first part of it multiple times, just dont finish it. You will get all the testing you need that way

The offical rules are up now

Race 1 at Superspeedway signup etc thread is up now

i just have one final question - is it a dnf without race notes? more often than not, i keep a rough guess of how often i pit, but, more often than not just pit when the tyres or gas gauge are red :s

once i get into a rythium, nothing but average laptimes and fastest lap are the only thing i really pay attention to. replays dont save all of races either. maybe 45 minutes of the 2 hours 45 minute at sears point for example.

Dont worry about forgetting race notes. Its just better if I can update the race standings every 30 minutes like its a live race. I just ran a 1000K race (check sig) at Suzuka and forgot to record some stuff, so dont sweat it if you forget to record your status, but try to, if possible. So no, you wont get a dnf even if you only send a final time.

Any ideas on where to run the lemans race? arcade mode maybe?

eh? the fgt race at le sarthe sounds fine to me ... i just dont like arcade modes feel and lack of set up options.

The F1 race should be ok to use.

Yeah the F1GT Championship 300km Le Sarthe race should do just fine. I got a little bit worried because my b-spec driver got laped there. They pulled away by about 40 seconds after lapping him

But he was running 3:30-32.xxx laps. I decent driver should be able to run 3:20-25.xxx laps on a regular basis. That is over a minute faster over a period of 22 laps so there should be no worry of being lapped.

They shouldnt be able to catch you at the nurburgring, seeing that they pit every 2 laps and the track is 13 miles long. My b-spec driver in steady (3) pace was able to easily fend them off over 15 laps (300km)

i thought id reply to this here instead of derailing the race thread further :)

I have done extensive testing at the next race in R246 (b-spec, identical suspension setup) and the results look something like this:

Audi R8
Pescarolo +0.300
Bentley +1.000

b-spec isnt nescaryly the best way to test what a car can do because b-spec will never get the most out of a car or drive correctly (specially the 905. using 1st or 2nd gear is nothing but a waste of time due to the gearbox issues)

Dark Elite made a good point that it would probably take a whole season to find out if there is an unfair advantage to one car or another. I dont think it will take quite a whole season, but the weight penalties will most likely happen before the season is over with, if they do happen at all, and depending on what happens at R246. If the cars are more equal on the road courses, then no weight penalties may be added.

id like to suggest running this season with all cars running no extra weight, then when season 2 comes around apply what is learned here to that season?

apologizes to [empty space] and others about bringing up weight penalties so late, but it is not unusual for racing series to try and even things up midseason. NASCAR has done this many times

its not a problem really, just better to know these things in advance. its not like weve to spend billions to adjust to new rules in one weeks time to the next race. no run for the cup please :P

If the advantage from car to car doesnt become outrageous, then there will be no weight penalties.

Also glad to see your interested in a second season. I am too. There will be multiple classes next season, penalties for hitting a wall or getting into a sand trap (pitstop) and a schedule with longer, tougher races. 300km races are sprint races to me
