Light Weight Two-Seater Series

This series is based on all the little guys. No, not the front wheel drives, or the Yellow Bird, or the Hondas... No, this series is based on the true little guys, as long as it weights less than 1080kg that is.

Obviously some of the cars listed below will completly blow the others off the track, so, to solve this problem and promote a varying group of cars, each car is going to be as close to equal as possible.

The Cars:
ASL Garaiya '02
Lotus Elise 111R '04
Lotus Elise 111S '03
Lotus Elise '00
Lotus Elise Type-72 '01
Mazda MX-5 Miata 1800 RS (NB, J) '04
Opel Speedster '00
Opel Speedster Turbo '00
Tommy Kaira ZZ-S '00
Toyota MR2 Spider '02

The Tracks:
George V Paris[R]
Special Stage Route 5
Trial Mountain
Grand Valley Speedway[R]
Autumn Ring
Fuji Speedway 2005 GT
Citcuit de la Sarthe I
Tsukuba Circuit-WET

Part Restrictions
Heres a small list of banned parts:
Racing Tires
Nitrous

Points and Penalties:
Obviously there are many drivers who are much better than the rest of us, and following many real world series' examples: theres a weight penalty system.

Here is where I'd like to add my own touch to the points system. After every race, the top five average T-times will get extra points.

Race Win:
Position-------------Points:
1..............................25
2..............................20
3..............................15
4..............................10
5................................5
6-last.........................1

T-Times:
Position:--------Points:
1.........................5
2.........................4
3.........................3
4.........................2
5.........................1
6-last..................0

Weight Addition/Removal*
Note About Weight System: The MAXIMUM weight penalty is 400lbs(182kg).
Pos: Weight:
1: +26kg
2: +21kg
3: +16kg
4: +11kg
5: +6kg
6: +0kg
7: -2kg
8: -2kg
9: -2kg
10: -2kg
11 and lower: Current weight penalty/2

*Weight removal will not be implemented until the second week of competition. I know this seems like an obvious thing, but you never know.

Time Verification:
This one is easy. Due to my lack of a replay device, this series won't require you to post replays to verify your time. However, if I get suspect times, I'll need some sort of screen shot of your time(this can be done by saving your best time and then taking a pic of the replay time with a digital camera)

Race Settings:
All races will be run in GT Mode.
Adjustable parts(Suspensions, Full Custom Transmission, and Limited Slip) can be adjusted(why buy them if you couldn't?!)
Tires: Whatever you manage to buy as long as the tires are Sports Tires.
Driver's choice of AT or MT.
Drivers choice ASM/TCS

Rules:
Races will be run on a weekly basis and timed so as to not conflict with other race series. Race week will run Saturday to Saturday.
Deadline will be Saturday 11:00PM EST.
(Times should be compiled by 11:30 and the next race posted by midnight. This deadline is nonnegotiable during the interest check stages. Saturday nights are my only garunteed free time.)

Races must abide by standard OLR rules:
No wall touching.
No hybrids
No Cheating of any kind
2 wheels on the track at ALL times.

Time Submission
Before the Saturday night deadline, I need a PM stating:
Car:
HP:
Modifications:
Best Lap/Time:
Sector Times:

You know that you have my interest ... lightweight 2 seaters are some of the most infuriating and yet fun cars to drive 👍

Is your objective to have 1 car for all races?

For now, yes, I'd like drivers to pick one car and stick with it, but I might allow one car change during the series. I can garuntee that the current list will be smaller, either to an unfair advantage or time doesn't allow me to test as many cars as I'd like :yuck: .

I like the idea. My current beef is wanting to use "The Real Driving Simulator" to try something "realistic"....on-track competition, tire wear, realistic HPs....if you've kept up with the threads I've been vocal about this.

I like the mix of cars. It's probably easier to balance any field of cars in arcade mode (provided initial HPs & wts are similar across the field)....pick the car with the closest to average HP & wt. Start tuning the others at those levels and make adjustmenst as necessary....once you feel you've got an equal field in Arcade Mode it may help you tune in GT Mode (with HP & wt anyway and possibly tires too). 💡 If you run this in Arcade Mode we could do single races with tire wear and on-track competition....now that would be sweet 👍.

What about the Suzuki GSX/R4? - its my favourite ride at the moment.

The current car list started out as about 30-40 cars, including used and new models. I got rid of the used cars first, so if the GSX/R4 is a used car, it didn't even make the first cut. I then averaged the HP of every car, which was down to about 30. Average HP was around 250HP, so every car between 150 and 350 HP were kept*.

I've been considering this since you first mentioned it, but unless I can find some way to run this in GT mode, it won't be happening this time around. I'm considering adding 1/2 season long(4 weeks each) races where you will compete in a GT mode race(perhaps an endurance race? suggestions?)

*The Lotus Elises(any kind) will not be cut from this series since the series was originally going to be and was inspired by the Elises.

The GSX/R4 is not a used car and has 250bhp when fully tunned.

:yuck: Sorry about that Cracker. Some cars slipped through. It's now added to the list of test cars. If anyone else would like to ask about a car, feel free to ask as long as it falls within the limits of New Car, between 150 and 350HP, under 1,100kg

OK, I've tested the car out, and it runs 6 seconds faster than the second fastest car. Theres no way that can be equalized and keep the field even so it has been cut.

UPDATE: I have overhauled the first post and perhaps clarified/expanded on a few matters.

Love to see more people post about an interest or general (positive) criticism or suggestion.

If one gains weight for finsihing 5th or higher, and then subsequently finishes much lower in the field on following weeks, will there be any system in place for then removing said penalty weight?

Yes, I'm just not entirly sure on which Idea to implement. Originally I wanted to limited the total weight in the field to 182kg, but that seemed overcomplicated.

If a person finishes first one week and finished lower than 10th the next, half the weight will automatically be removed, for every finish between 5-10, weight will be removed in increments of 2.

EDIT: I've addressed this in the first post. Thanks for mentioning that koly!

Yes, I know this is a double post, but:

With responses from only a few people I fear that this project will not get off the ground. So here is an announcement for dates:

So far the series launch date is around Nov. 12, so there is still a lot of time to express intrest and I should have a preliminary budget for HP up Oct. 19th and non HP budget up before the 26th, at the latest.

I think people are generally involved with other series and that sort of thing. IMHO, feel free to PM a few people directly, keep us abreast of your developments and plans and that sort of thing. If this isn't starting for a short while, you have plenty of time to create some interest.

I know, I just wanted to give people who weren't sure some dates so they could make sure it doesn't conflict with other series.

Even if no one wants to do run in this, I'm going to make something from this series, and I'll still run it over PMs or through geocities or something simple like that lol. to much work has been done by a lot of people, mostly you with helping me koly, for it to go to waste.

Besides, the series can flop, but this'll still make one hell of a comparisson write-up :dopey:
