Interest Check: NASCAR Race @ de la Sarthe - April 27th

Just checking in to see if there would be any interest at holding a single race at Le Sarthe with the NASCAR cars? No sign-ups would be necessary, it would basically be the first 15 people that show up get to race. (1 pace car) All info you need to know is below. If you have any questions just post here. 👍

  • Race Date: Wednesday April 27th, 2011
  • Race Time: 11:00 PM Eastern USA (-4 GMT)
  • Track: Circuit de la Sarthe (Time/Weather Change)
  • Distance: 1 Hour, Laps TBA
  • Pit Stops: Not required, but recommended

  • Allowed Cars: Any NASCAR racer
  • Allowed Mods: Oil Change
  • Allowed Tires: Racing Hard
  • PP Limit: TBA
  • Driving Aids: Everything OFF, ABS at 1

Race Details:

  • We'll be running the Time/Weather version of the track. No, we are NOT running at night and we are NOT running in the rain. I just like the lightning/environment details better with the time change settings.
  • Pit stops are not required, but given the weight, power and speed of these cars, more than likely you'll have to make a pit stop before the end of the race.
  • GTP Online Rules apply. That means clean racing to the best of your ability. If you are called out as causing a problem, you will leave the room.
  • Only 15 drivers will be competing. We will need one person to operate a pace car. The pace car will only be used at the start of the race, as there will be NO caution flags. (Post here if you are interested)
  • Bump drafting is allowed, but please be careful. I don't want anyone taking someone out because they bumped them too hard. Please use proper judgment here.
  • Winner will receive a prize car to be posted before the race date.

I'll post more in this thread when I think of it. For now though, any suggestions?
 
Oookkaaaayy.....I guess I would get in but I dont think there should be a tire rule.All the race tires have own advantages.example hard tire lasts longer with slower lap times- softer tire faster lap time shorter life.The choices would be interesting.

Edit: Since I would be the pace car and not racing, I can also be a Race Steward. I can host the room and once the first lap is done, I can over look the race and kick over aggressive/childish drivers.

Edit 2: Should I use the PlayStation GTR Pace car with the lights? Or an American Muscle car like real NASCAR races. I have a RM '10 Camaro, or a Full body kit Mustang, or even a Viper..... :D So many choices.

Definitely in for this. Dibs on JPM if for some reason you're limiting the amount of users to a car.

Also, i'm fine with the tire rules.

That's fine. As the lights on the pace car don't even work, we don't have to use it. A nice Vette Z06, ZR1 or a new Camaro would probably work best.

I'd like to limit the number of people using each car to two if possible. How many different drivers are in the game?

Okay, so 11. 12 if you include the Gamestop car.

I have the GameStop car, so I will use that. So now we have 10 cars to split amongst 13 people, so there will be 3 duplicates. That should be OK.
 
I have a 48 car and a gamestop but i want to use the 48.
 
I can start making a list of participants as long as everyone is 100% sure they'll be there.
