Hi all.

In the last week or so I've finally got more permanent access to both my PS2 and PS3 and as such have spent a lot of time playing different variants of GT! As it is though, GT5P is still not quite big enough to fully enjoy, so I find myself wanting more of a challenge on GT4 still. Which gave me the idea of running a short race series.

My idea: Five races, five short-ish circuits, roughly fifteen laps a race. As for cars, two ideas appeal to me - sports saloons (sedans), with between roughly 160-220bhp which will then be evened out by weight and power adjustments; Alternatively, sports coupes with around the same power and again levelled by weight and power adjustments.

I've began to test both types of cars to determine their "handicaps", as there is a lot of variation in performance and handling owing to the choices of FF, FR and AWD layouts and the differences in power. Testing on the saloons in particular is bringing up some interesting numbers - currently, one of the least powerful is the quickest around my test-track of choice.

With regards to which cars in each format I'm thinking of, here is a general idea:

Coupes/sports
Mitsubishi FTO GPvR
Honda Integra Type R DC2/DC5
Nissan 200SX
Toyota MR-2 G-Limited
Toyota Celica SS-II (ST202)
Alfa Romeo GTV V6
...and more

Sports saloons
Honda Accord Euro-R (all variants)
Vauxhall/Opel Vectra V6
Alfa Romeo 156 V6
Mazda6 5-door
VW Bora V6 4motion
...and more

There seems to be greater variation in the performance of the Coupes and sports despite the fact that they all sit around the same power, wheras there is less difference in the saloons even though there are some large power differences.

If people are interested, I will then release full lists of the eligible cars and their performance handicaps or boosts according to what I've found in the process of testing, and also release the list of the five circuits we'd be using.

Points will likely be on an older F1-style 10,6,4,3,2,1 basis, with an extra point for the Time Attack winner at each circuit. Handicaps will be subject to discussion - if anyone has any good ideas then feel free to voice them - otherwise I'll use a similar system to that used in the MX-5 series a while back.

So, anyone interested?

If it is 15 laps per race this should be in the Long Race Series part of the forum? 💡

No; short race series are defined by the number of races (six or fewer), not by the length of the races. It just happens that hotlap series usually last only a few rounds and longer races are in long series.

I'll probably cut that down anyway. 15 laps seems a few too many. Probably cap it at ten. None of the circuits I'm thinking of are too long so ten shouldn't be too bad.

I am interested, but not until the Supercar series is finished. What with that and the current GTPLMS. I just don't have the extra time in order to commit and finish. Which is only fair to the organizers of each race series.

Noted 👍 I'll let that series run.

Please feel free to continue to register your interest in the series.
