Hey

OK, here's the situation: The V8 series is on the verge of being cancelled due to lack of entrants. I would like to do something to replace it.

Now before you say "Oh, here goes Nitro again with another wild idea. He just doesn't stop", I have thought about this is a lot and looking at the amount of race series there are now, some of them like the NRS and WGT are drawing to a close. This leaves the forum open for a new type of racing series to go against the upcoming DTM series and possible F1 championship.

What is this championship, you might ask? None other than:

THE WORLD GT-R TOUR by NISSAN
It's SKYLINE v SKYLINE in an all out head-to-head, 5 class series to determine who is the best of the best driving one of the following types of the GT-R:

Historic: For Skylines from 1970-1988, before the R32 era.
R32: For the R32 models, the best looking GT-Rs EVER! (IMO)
R33: For the R33 models, the GT-Rs that carried on the legend!
R34: For the R34 models, the most ferocious and capable GT-Rs to date!
Tuner: For the GT-Rs that have had the "aftermarket" touch from some of Japan's best known tuning companies, including Mine's, Amuse and Blitz, not forgetting Nissan's own tuning arm, Nismo!

The number of rounds has not yet been decided, but 5 of them will be the "Race of Red "R" Emblem", where the GT-Rs will run with their own kind in AI form.

There is still a lot to discuss and prepare for the series, but testing for the cars will begin soon

Feel free to discuss your opinions and vote in our poll.

May the force of the GT-R be with you!!!

yeah.....but that was then. This is now. I've changed since then. Besides, I'm only cancelling the V8s because:

a) We were getting poor turnouts at every race.
b) the poll shows people think cancelling it is a good idea
C) it's my series anyway, so I do what I want, when I want.

I'm not having a go at you, that was never intended. If I have offended you in any way, I give my deepest apologies. :)

I will enter it if it goes ahead. I have a feeling it will be like the v8 supercars was with alot of people signing up and only a small amount of them entering the races.

I would be very interested in this series. And hopefully you will have more luck with this one. Count me in.👍
When are you looking to start????

Well, I need some help testing some of the cars, so hopefully some of you can help. I'm thinking of thise power limits:

Historic: up to 350hp
R32: up to 700hp
R33: up to 700hp
R34: up to 700hp
Tuner: up to 800hp?

I hope these aren't too extreme!

The idea is sound, but I have to say that I share daan's concerns.

Look, I made a banner for the race series. Nothing special, just a 15-20 minute job!

Up to 700hp! :O
Count me in...

Give me the spec and setting cars from each catorgory, and I'll do a prelim test for you if you want. Just pm me the details and some of the courses over and I'll see if I can get something sorted.👍 👍 :)

Are you sure that's not too much? I can tone it down to 600hp if you want.

You might have to tone down the earlier spec cars, but only R33, R32 because the do have a lighter chassis. The R34 is alot more technical thoough so it should hold its own easy 👍

How does 650hp sound for both R32 and R33? I can go to 600hp, no problem, if you want?

The R32/33 limit is fine with me. For Tuner and R34, the maximum 800hp should be ok.

I'd rather stick with 700hp for the R34s. There are some versions which can't make 800hp.

Maybe the 650 would be better. We will know more after testing. :)

should I impose a PTWR limit? I've been looking at an R32 and the PTWR is 1.943 on mine. I was thinking a limit between 1.900 and 1.950.

boy, we've got a long way to go! :irked:

Im in your boat.

I've found PTWR limits for two classes:

R32: no lower than 1.950
R33: no lower than 1.975

Just a thought, but do you think this would work without PTWR limits? It's just that I wanted to try and make the racing as close as possible.

Did some testing on 4 of the R32 models today. Managed to tune their PTWRs, with the end result being that all 4 hot laps around Autumn Ring were about .100 of a second between them.

Anyone want to help with testing?
