Is anyone here interested in goal setting? I have a number of goals that I would like to work on with people who are also commited to going after their dreams or pulling themselves out of a gamers rut. Have anyone here accomplished a difficult goal recently? Does anyone have a desire to own a 400rwhp FD in the next 2 years? Does anyone need to lose weight? Does anyone need to get a job that fulfills them mentally and doesn't suck?

I would like to have a group of people who could help eachother achieve goals and support the continuing progress towards bettering ourselves.

Anyways, let me know!

One of my goals as of right now is to continue to improve my driving skills. This involves mastering manual driving techniques, and learning how to handle my car at speed or when it's out of control.

Another lifelong goal for me is to learn as many styles of dance (mainly swing) as I can before I die. I want to be able to dance with my future wife to any style of music, and do it well.

Those are some awesome goals! How well do you dance now? Have you taken any classes?

As for the driving, do you have a manual car? Have you looked into driving schools in your area? Autocross events?

I swing dance fairly well right now, for the styles I know. I take classes every Wednesday night, and tonight (being Wednesday night) is the first time I am going to try the Intermediate lesson instead of the usual beginner lesson.

Starting in March I am participating in two extended cumulative weekly lessons, teaching blues dancing and balboa.

I own a manual Ford Probe GT. I don't have the money for a driving school, so I'm teaching myself how to do this on industrial roads and parking lots. I am considering autocrossing my car in the spring. There is a car club at my school called the Firebirds, and they hold some autocross events. As it stand though, my car is surely not competitive and I would pretty much just take it easy anyway... I can't afford to drive hard and break something!

As for your goals, is a '400rwhp FD' an RX7?

Yes, by FD I did mean RX7. I'm always giving lots of thought to what my goals would be and can't seem to convince myself to stick with a set of goals. The current challenges in my life are my weight, my career, my study skills, and my room.

Currently, I weigh around 320 lbs. down from 380lbs. I'm vegan and have a membership to the gym. I've tried journaling what I eat in the past and it worked out really well but I didn't keep it up.

I had my first "job" this holiday season and loved it at Best Buy. At this moment I'm working on scheduling an interview with them for another position as a cashier. With the money from the job, I need to put my car into the shop, get a faux chinchilla coat, XBOX 360, and start saving for Sam Houston State University.

My sudy skills are the worst. I'm thankful I havfe time between classes to cram. The problem comes when the projects are too large to cram. I have been making short little to-do list for the night to attempt to make sure I get things accomplished. As it stands now though, textbooks aren't getting read and math homework isn't getting solved.

My room is a mess. It's still a bright blue from when we moved in and the cieling fan is red, yellow green and blue. I want decorate it badly, but I have the problem of getting held up halfway done cleaning my room and not being able to commit to how to make the room look.

Anyways, that's a rundown of how things are going with me. On the positivfe though I am a member of the school newspaper, student ambassadors, and I am volunteering at the local animal shelter.

Kenny, do you have a job? It opens a number of options for opportunities. Even if you can't beat your car around, the more you're around good drivers you can pick up tips and improve. Also try to get ride alongs in the faster cars by good drivers.

Have you gone anywhere to test you dancing in the real world?

Having the desire to get your life 'back on track' (pun intended) is definitely a good thing, and I commend you for it. The next step is setting goals, which you have only somewhat done.

If you are at 320 now, pick 250 as a goal to be down to by the end of the summer or so.

Having a job is an obvious goal, but I encourage you to interview at more places as well.

It seems like you are in high school, since you mention saving for the university. The number one change you need to make is take studying much more seriously. Study skills are 10 times more important in college, because time management is all up to you. You will fail out of college with your current system, trust me. What you need to do is set reasonable goals for yourself to be able to study a little at a time, and work yourself up to hours at a time.

A messy room is no big deal as long as you can find things. I think a multi-colored ceiling fan is a great decorating addition to any room. Problem solved :)

I am at work right now. I am a design engineer at Ford, 20 years old still in college and making the big bucks. It looks like I survived the cuts :)

I test my dancing in the real world by asking random girls at the club to dance, and they usually leave with a smile on their face. I'm not nearly good enough to even think about doing it competitively, but I know enough to show most girls something new or at least twist them around a few times and make them smile because of my silly humor :sly:

Goals, dreams, hopes... I never seem to be able to keep them up longer enough to see a difference.

However, my current goals right now are to start university early next year in the field of business, master civil law and to end-up living my professional life with as much money as possible so as to be able to live my life to fullest. As soon as I get a real job to start me in the right direction of my professional life I plan to immediately start looking into building a port-folio of houses for the future. Though my initial dreams of playing golf professionally and mastering a difficult chinese martial-art are probably over, I still hope that when I end up building an S13 silvia with my father soon, that I endeavour to enter the art of track-drifting by an early age as to become the world's youngest professional drifter and in order to inspire others.

Yes, I'm a victim of materialism but I still have soft spots for those in places such as the sub-saharan african region who don't have the benefit of always being able to chase a dream, In which I hope to make a difference of in my future.

I wish to master the art of design and theoretical mathematics, build my own personal library and also to collect rare treasures of great importance along the way of my life; Things such as ancient chinese weaponry, historical cars and ancient books will always be a hobbie to me.

I want to retire successfully with a large, modern home situated along a beautiful coastline with a yacht and a garage full of memories and travel, travel, travel

I live my life by ignoring all those who try to tell me I can't do it; I'm extremely determined- Which is what I believe anyone should do in order to fulfill their lives.

Recent goals? I became an Eagle scout a week ago.

In the future, getting enough money for college is a goal. From there, I hope to become fluent in German and French, move to Germany and start engineering for BMW, Audi, or MB. I want to have a family that is fluent in several languages as well. Seeing the world would be amazing too, seeing as how I love to go places.

Other goals, get enough money to buy a really cool car of two, have a cool house and live comfortably.

Can you give us some more information on your situation Silverzone?

Great post, GT Pro! I really liked your ideas and they're quite clear. Good stuff. What is the currect situation with the S13 you're building? Do you have the skills to be competitive in drifting? Are you going to focus more on drifting or college right now? Drifting is a very expensive hobby and so is college. Is your family assisting you financially?

S, philly... where are you at right now in your German and french speaking abillities? Have you had any classes in them? Do you know anyone who speaks those languages? I've toyed with the engineering in Germany idea but decided against it. Are you aware of the kinds of requirments they would look for? What is the best engineering college that has put people into foreign automakes? You can always get involved at the grassroots level and assist in tuning and testing of SCCA cars. Also, a lot of cutting edge design is done on drag cars. Even if they don't take turns the people can build cars pretty well.

As for myself, I am actually in college. I've been going for six semesters so far but I have been floundering about on what my major will be and more problems. I would interview at more places but I enjoyed my job there so much. I'm kind of scared with everyone in retail saying they hate their job I'll end up somewhere crappy. My study skills have gotten me by just fine so far. I work very well in the heat of the moment. I absorb the information very well in lecture as well. Anyways, I can make myself sit down and do 30 minutes of math or read a module in psychology but the problem is when it has to become regular events. Most of my habbits revolve around playing Runescape or chatting online NOT doing homework. I've tried to identify it. My main beliefs about homework thoguh are that it's painful and pointless because I understand everything and am not getting "bad" grades. It just puts me under a lot of stress on research papers and test with below my expectations grades.

Eventually with all of this I would like to see us setting some weekly and monthly goals.

BTW, has anyone heard about the idea of picking what college to go to? I heard that your BA isn't as important where you get it as your masters or doctorate. And how hard is it to actually make it into an ivy league school? I always fall back on "If George Bush can do it..." Anyways, have a great night everyone!

Considering the time-frame I've got to complete a semi-restoration of the current vehicle I own, I hope to start building the S13 with my father by the time I'm 16 (around mid-2008). Financially, we have the money, and the car is going to be sponsored through one of my father's businesses so I like to use the excuse that it's simply an 'investment' assuming I do well. (My father is a well-knowledged CNC/steel engineer/machiner so it's good to have someone that knows about things).

I understand a fair bit about drifting, not too much in-depth knowledge but I plan to study up more on it in the near-future. I should be able to balance my drifting and college (most likely 30/50) fairly as I don't do alot outside of school and home. But until then...

Well, I've been overweight for as long as I can remember and It's been an uphill battle from the beginning. I'm not extremely overweight, but enough to make myself concerned. I've become more active, and I've been trying to eat a little healthier (hardest part) It's worked out good so far though because I have lost a pants size. I just gotta keep going the way I am, and hopefully I can get to a more managable size.

The financial situation is a bit screwed. I have a job that's great during the summer due to the amount of hours I get, resulting in more money. During the schoolyear, however, I get a total of 2 hours a day due to the plant closing down at 5 and Me getting out of school at 2:35. What further complicates this is Cell phone bills and ever-rising gas prices. (it's goin back up damnit :grumpy: ) So my account is basically drained and money is a real stress. And with the arrival of more money equals two things: College, and a new car. My parents wont buy me a car, which i actually prefer they don't because I am proud of my 94 Mercury that I bought by myself without aid, and I don't think I'd be nearly as proud of it if they bought it.

So yeah. those are basically my goals:

Lose Weight..

Get Money.

I have taken six years of French in HS, though a two-year break has brought me down to probably third-year level.:guilty: As for German, I haven't taken any classes. I was going to start it up this semester, but the school schedule destroyed that plan. I have heard that college German can get you pretty far. I know it is will be really tough to do, but I feel that I can do it if I work pretty hard and that the results will be absultely amazing.

I have started a thread about picking a college here. Feel free to join in. I'm sure the BA doesn't matter as much as the masters, because I think employers will probably look at you highest education level more than your background.

For a more short-term goal, I hope to get a car by the end of March, and I have to pick a college by the end of April.
