~ Classics ~

This will start midway through 'September' when I have drawn up the car list and tracks available to use! ... Only 'Classic Rally Cars' will be in the line up ;)

I am considering making this a 2 man team event but will see what others have to say on this and go from there 👍

If you have any suggestions/opinions on how you would like this format to be! feel free to air your thoughts as all constructive critisism and ideas will be appreciated and considered

If you are interested in taking part then please feel free to post your interest in here and I look forward to some great racing with you 👍

Cheers
Ron.

Cool idea, I'll be in if it goes ahead 👍.

Thanks for your interest George 👍 It should go ahead mate as long as the regulars arrive to make up the numbers ;)

You know I'm down for it Ron! 👍

I like the 2 man team idea as long as everyone's partner commits to the full series. Sometimes it's tough to find time every week to run even as little as an hour as has been my case the last couple weeks. :indiff: So maybe instead of 8 weeks, participation may be better with only 5 weeks?

I would also like to see some of the new tracks that no one seems to race. Like Tahiti, and even *shudder* Chamonix. I myself have never raced in anger at either track besides the license tests, etc. Would be a nice challenge IMO.
For tar, how about a rally at the nurb? Would be great fun in a group B I think.

As for the cars, I would prefer to run at stock HP as the cars were originally designed. I know that stock weight and gearing can't be verified, but to me, these Group B cars perform the best when both the slidey thingys are set to 0%, and the tranny is at the stock .

The only other issue I can think of is with the AI contact. IMO there should be zero contact allowed. I think it is really hard to judge what is clean contact and what is not sometimes, so if there is a zero AI contact rule, that eliminates any doubt on anyones part. 👍

But anyway, it's good to see you are thinking of A.R.C. again. They are a blast! :)

Good post mate will take lots of this onboard when arranging in the next few weeks ;)
Cheers

I may be in. Depending on if/when I get a replacement for my DFP. I'm not really interested in Rally but those classic and Group B cars interest me.

Great idea, Ron. ;) Count me in. :D

Team racing is good. 👍

I'm in favor of a rather short series too. And it's even more important for a team event. Despite all good intentions someone always drops out during a series.
I would really prefer a well visited series with 4 or max 5 races and then a ARC ~ Classics vol II ~ in November. 👍 :D

:scared: Sorry, Steve. I'm sure the Maze and Chaminix will be very challenging for the more skilled racers. But for a technical bad driver like me they will only bring heaps of frustration. I'll of course submit just to fulfill my obligations to fellow racers, team mate and race administrator, but it'll most likely be the fist clean lap I drive.
For me the ARC represent fun and commitment. Let's keep it this way. 👍
(if we go for the torture, please make it a warm up race. :dopey:)

I'm no big fan of the Nürburgring, but I can see it's a great track for rallying. Wouldn't it be great to make a spotrace for all the Classic Rally Cars at the Ring. 💡 :p

El Capitan is a must in a series like this. It's winding and bumpy and just made for tarmac rally. We drove it last time in one of the warm up races, but we can go the other way around this time. :D

DF and TM are also great rally tracks, but we always race them so let's try something new.

I'm all for stock power too. 👍 But hoping to see a lot of new racers I really would prefer we would go for races that are verifiable. Mutual trust is great, but I do believe it thrives best under conditions, where it can be backed up by hard facts if necessary. :dopey:

So the best way to keep thing smooth IMHO is to go for -10% weight and topspeed at drivers choice.

Let's just avoid the cars from the previous ARCs.

I'm glad you guys enjoy A.R.C as much as I do 👍 it wouldn't be the same if we didn't have such a quality field showing up time and time again ;)

Thanks guys

btw! .... after seeing some opinions ... this will definitely be a 2 man team event! you can start forming teams now and I will put arranged teams in the 1st post 👍

i enjoyed arc a lot, tho i only really fancied the tarmac tracks.
so put me on the spare list and i'll see after the specs have been posted.
ok ron?
cheers

No probs mate! I will have a basic layout of cars and type of events for the comp up within the next few days 👍

Count me in too.
I know I've never finished any series I raced in, but I'll do my best.

I understand your a busy guy Cyril :) .. you are always Welcome mate

I have a rather busy schedule in the next 2 weeks, so I am holding back from starting this A.R.C comp until the first week of October ... I hope this is ok with the people interested in taking part and hopefully no one loses interest!

I will update more details about cars and tracks asap 👍

Thanks
Ron.

This does sound fun, and with the Lancia Stratos in the list that makes it
sound like even more fun so count me in as well. And one day I will join a
race series that go's to the end. Or maybe make one. Because ever race
series I have joined has die before the finish, which makes me sad:(.

ron, teammate cyril and me will wait until whenever you're ready for it. you know i keep hoping of a team-arc with an even tarmac/dirt distribution and as little narrow city tracks as humanly possible (so tokyo and special stage are in afaiac).

btw james: the stratos is perhaps the most awkward driving car off all in gt4. how can you like driving that car, especially off-tarmac?

I don't know, I just like to drive the car ever since I first drove it in GT2.
I have not driven the car on dirt yet, but with my DFP I might give it a try:).

F%*$&$* DIED?? MY BLOODY TOURNEY AIN'T DEAD YET MATE!!!
Sounds like an interesting idea...not sure if I can race though...when you thinkin' of kickin' off?
Danisfast

Yeah i'm sorry about saying that:(, at the time I did'nt know if you
wanted to finish your race series. But not to fear, we will finish it:).

LOL can we have this conv in the right thread please? in here we're supposed to talk about ron's arc NOT dan's 2.3 ...

One of my favourite GT4 races ever was a spot race awhile back with the Lancia Stratos road car at Citta Di Aria ... such great fun. The stratos is all about driving the car the way it wants to be driven.

The stratos is all about driving the car the way it wants to be driven.
We used it at Autumn Ring reverse in week 31. The key was to put the car sideways and provoke the slide at the proper moment to take benefit of it.
Lovely car.

I think I could be persuaded to try this one... Sounds like a blast and I've never been involved in any A.R.Cs :-)

If anyone needs a (lousy) Team mate, PM me - Beware though, I stink !..

no one stinks more than me so hush.
on the stratos - dont even think about it (ron) or i'll resign here and now.
thank you.

We need the Stratos in this... It's one of the best cars ever build. I've said it before, and will probably say it again, CMR2, the Finnish woods in a Stratos - Best fun EVER !..

And NO ONE stinks the way I stink....!

I tried the Stratos today and it will take some time to learn how to drive it on
dirt but half the fun right? But I drove the Delta S4 today as well and that fun too.

Some of the most fun I've had in GT4 involves the Stratos.
SoGT ACC was with the Stratos road car @ GV east, drifting the first two corners as one. :)
A.R.C. IV multilapper with the race car @ SSR5 Clubman. 👍
and
Cyril's WRS 31 race @ Autumn ring (R) in the race car. 👍

Like Luxy said, just drive it the way it wants to be driven! It truly is one of the best in the game.

why am i not yet in the interested drivers list? i am interested and already found a teammate. it was just that it's a rallye event and i don't like off tar racing, that's all :scared:
but the crowd is great - at least it was the previous time -, the cars are usually a surprise as you normally don't pick them, and ron promised there would be an even lineup of off-road, city, and race tracks.

ron: any clues how many rounds there will be? my guess would be 8 to 12 ...

I would like to join too, so could you please put me on the list.
