We are approaching the midway point of our current season of SNAIL Friday Night Racing in the 992 Porsche for the Porsche GT3 Cup Challenge. As such, its already time to start considering/planning our next season/series. I opened multiple ideas to a core group of drivers already, and the consensus landed on these 2 options:
Option 1.) Take the PP driver regulations at the end of our current Porsche GT Cup season, and use them to start a new 6 -8 event season on European tracks. (No need to go over specs or build sheets as everyone is plenty familiar now with this Porsche, and we all know the racing with this car)

Option 2.)
Michelin Pilot American V8 Supercars Challenge
This series takes inspiration from the Australian V8 Supercars series using the Gen 3 cars of the Camaro and Mustang, but adds the Challenger into the mix. These cars all weigh between 3080-3250lbs and around 635-650hp. Each car does have a specific build sheet that I have provided for everyone to check out/try, and provided an example three horse race at Bathurst to give an idea of what these cars would look like. They are a blast to drive, but are very challenging, requiring precision and patience to control them. Have a look to see what you think. If voting goes this direction, we will need to begin sign ups and new time trialing in preparation for a new series. (Plan would be to go back to the Porsche 992 in Europe after this series if the Porsche doesn't win out now)

Oh man, you just made my weekend.

Bills season is over sadly and the kid has a rare weekend with no sports, so I’ve got the time to have fun going through these 3 builds.

Opening testing room for anyone interested in shaking these V8 cars down. See the first post above for build specs for each car, and come join in.

ROOM CLOSED

Hey @llNovall
In your description of the three builds above, there’s a link saying “View Attachment” to see an example build sheet, but when I click on it, I get a message telling me I don’t have permission to view it.

Am I doing something wrong?

I’m having a hard balancing HP between 635-650 and PP at or near 690 for the Challenger.

Sorry bout that...fixed. Remember that you can use both the power restrictor and computer together to get the best power balance. Your power/torque may be different than mine which is ok, as long as your at or under the 690.00pp

Here are template liveries of required decals and placement for anyone interested.
Class structure and color details will be the same as Porsche series. Only difference is the addition of PRO/PRO-AM/AM decals as well. Get the cars built and some liveries in order. I'd like to try and get a race room setup for us to shake these down.
Pro= blue
PRO-AM= Black

Hey @llNovall ,for the life of me, I can’t find the decal that you show on the rear of the car, right above the American flag.
The one saying “S V8 Supercars…Gen 3”

What should I be typing into the search function of GT7?

They can be found by search tag:
V8supercars

Best to search on the gran-turismo site as the "Gen 3 Supercars" decals did not show on the in game search. I did repost them, so they can be found from my feed.

how do I join?
We are still about 3 1/2 months out for starting this series, as we are currently in the middle of our Porsche GT3 Cup series. Youre welcome to join us in our current series, but if not, I'll be sure to tag you as we start organizing for the V8 Supercars series.

Besides not taking a bail-out…..IDK, what?
They circled the problem.

Just remember, gentlemen wear Bowties 😉

All jokes aside, all three of these cars are legends, and I truly would take anybone of them if the lottery ever graced my bank account. At this day and age, if it's a V8 and spits fire, I don't care what manufacturer it comes from. Should be a very fun series...with a little bragging rights involved...haha.

EDIT: And on another note, kudos to Ford for being brave enough to defy the electrification by continuing to commit to and offer a V8 pony car. I pray that Chevy and Dodge will get their heads out of their @$$es and eventually follow suit and offer what many still want....even if in more limited production numbers. Long live ICE's.

I’m just trying to stir the pot a bit…..I’ve owned several Mustangs, a few Camaros and 2 Vettes, but the only Dodge V8 muscle car I’ve ever owned was a ‘69 Dart Swinger with a 340 and added 6 pack carb system.
Honestly I’m 100% a sports/super car enthusiast and love several American, European and Japanese cars, just wish I could afford a few of my favourites.

This is sitting in my driveway. It’s a 2017 GT350. It’s not the R, it has A/C and a backseat. It’s my sister-in-laws daily driver. Unless it’s wet or raining. She lost the rear once, driving straight, in 4th gear, with the traction control on. She keeps it here while she’s in Florida. I start it once a week, in “quiet“ mode my wife feels it upstairs in bed. In “sport” mode it rattles my neighbors windows 4 houses down. She complained so I dont do that anymore. Every 2 weeks I take it on the road and run it through its paces. In the late 90’s I was a mechanic at Sussman BMW Honda Oldsmobile Acura. Ive driven the Integra Type R, NSX, and all the BMW M series cars. This is by far the fastest, most powerful, out of all of them.

@CodeRedR51

I just did the 350GTR build sheet and my weight is 2923lbs. I triple checked and I purchased only what was on the list. I notice in your example build sheet you have ballast at 100??? I‘m not sure what I did wrong. I know we aren’t allowed to have ballast.

You are correct. See the updated apecs. Car should be 2923lbs at around 635ish hp. Thanks for the catch.

Reminder to anyone who has not voted, please see the top post in this thread, then see the voting poll at the top. Deadline for voting is this Friday, 2/9/24 after our race night is finished and the room is closed. As it stands, it appears we will be running the V8 Supercars (Camaro/Mustang/Challenger) unless the voting swings it the other way. 2 days.

Is traction control an option???Lol. I tried running a couple of laps and the rear is a little touchy compared to the Porsche

Alright Gents,
The masses have spoken. I will begin organizing and should have a formal thread up for our next 8 Event series of the Michelin V8 Supercar Challenge sometime over the next month. This will afford nearly a 2.5 month lead in for you to do car testing/sign ups/time trialing/and organizing. Everyone stay tuned.
