i was diddling around with the controller thisafternoon, my time, and found an interesting glitch(?). has anybody else spotted this:

during a replay of a time trial, practice, or photoshoot on a lit (night) course, pressing up on the d-pad apparently causes the car to switch on highbeams. this even works on the Model T. it has not been tested, yet, with the likes of a quad light setup with both sets of bulbs on (examles are the Audi Quattro, the DeLorien, or the Camaro IROC-Z Concept), but testing with an outside bulbs only quadlight (chevelle and the 97 Z28) does not yeild all four bulbs lighting.

i cant manage. tried 3 cars. i'd love to see pics (tv shots or photomode shots if they stay on for it)

thats impossible, i'm gonna try that now with my Merc. Benz E 55 AMG!!!

EDIT!! thats so cool. i tried it first with the E55 on Hongkong, it didnt work

i took the Chevi I-Roc to Seattle, didnt work.

then, i took my Audi RS4 to George V Paris, and, it really works. its a nice glitch!!

2nd EDIT!! took now me E55 to george V paris, and it works too, but it seems, it only works on night tracks. like in motegi or seattle it aint gonna work.

pics...not neccasary, not big differents, it just very bright.

Errr, no. Pressing up on the D-pad switches the ghost replay car on and off. When the ghost car and the real car are doing the same thing on the same lap, it looks like the car is flashing it's headlights. But it's not.

sorry daan, but thats not true!:)

my first idea was the same as yours, but in the replay when you push the button there is no ghost (at least not in my replay), and the lights are really flashing up. if you take the Audi RS4, you can see it very good. the highbeam on that car is really intense!:) :sly:

Aah, OK. But what I explained is what's happening here

i see, but really daan, take your RS4, or any other car, and then you will see it

ya, and in the movie with the Toyota gt1, he also pushing "UP" during the replay, i dont see any ghost in there....:)

You don't see a ghost because the ghost and the player car are on the same lap, therefore they are doing exactly the same thing at the same time, and are completely over-lapping so you don't ever see the ghost.

Yeah ive noticed that.
nice though sorta useless IMO

Does this also cause the lights to go up in cars like the stratos, miata, corvettes, and 2000gt?

ill have to try that after MIND OF MENCIA

What dann said. It's just a ghost going on top of the original car. That why it doest work if the ghost is driving seperatly somewhere else on the track. This worked in GT3 too.

well i tried it myself with a slr mclaren on hong kong and SSR5 and i will say it works.i did one lap at each. If i had a way to upload pics i would but i dont

kay...there'sd the thing. ONE lap only. even if it IS just the overlapped ghost, it's still cool. there MIGHT be a thing with it however. I tested the thing today with the Couple 9 S...which has it's front markers lit...if it IS a ghost overlay...wouldn't the markers brighten up in intensity as well?

Minicooper: *laughs* on NIGHT courses or lights courses (Sarthe), the car's lights are allready on. this only appears to blink the highbeams. the only thing that goes up in GT 4 is the rear wing on the McClaren SLR, theNike One, and that two flap Mitsubishi concept.

note: tested with the Renault 5 maxi turbo, all lights immediatly brightened, tested on S100 240RS, all four headlights brightened.

I dont care, just tested in on Special Stage with the HKS and you need damn good eyes for it.

u dont have to see it in replay. u can be racing and turn the brights on. its not a glitch. like perfect balance said u can also do it in GT3 so its not new. just like in reality, you can turn your brights on. so i dont know why people are so amazed about it.

I can't get it to work!:( i tried with an audi RS4 on George V Paris in photomode, and a renault 5 maxi turbo rally car on the same track in photomode, and on SSR5 on practice. I can't notice any change in the lighting.

Mini: i never said in Photomode. i tried it in photomode for the heck of it, and nothing.
after running a single lap in a night course, access the replay, and switch the view to the front of the car so you can see the nose. after it crosses the start line, then you can do the dumb trick.

PS: i had the controller back in default settings mode. and I do NOT use a wheel (i have a wheel, but it's too small for my comfort)

and if your wondering about pics? i don't have the capability to even take my photomode snapshots off my PS2...as every time I try to find a pen drive, i'm either broke, or they're prohibitively expensive :P

Since you only did one lap, the ghost is the same lap, and the ghost appears (guess where????) at the start line! Which is where your flashy lights start working. Do it more than one lap: do a fast lap and an intentionally slower lap, then try the flashy-light thing on the second lap of the replay.

I tried it only with one lap. It work. The flashy light look great. Then i tried running on 2 laps. First lap was slower than the second. Guess what..it doesn't work anymore.

So i guess if i played only one lap, the ghost car will be exactly the same spot with my car cause that lap is count as the fastest lap. So when i push up again and again on the D pad, it will bring the ghost car and then it disappeared...came up...dissapeared...came up...bla bla bla. And then it looks like the light was in highbeam and lowbeam because the light came from two cars.

Exactly like wfooshee said.

Sorry if i'm mistaken....

Sorry, I meant photodrive, but since this is just because of the ghost car, I guess it doesn't matter.

Edit: whoops, quoted the wrong person, I meant to quote sniffs
