Hey everyone im back from a 2 month holiday which amongst other places took me across germany (and of course the autobahns).
i was driving a vauxhall (opel) omega, '99 2.2 16v cd.
the car was fully laden on the way back, 4 adults, maximum boot load so acceleration was awful but i was still able to knock up a top speed of 131mph. (not my best but i have a video of myself doing it which i will endeavour to get online as soon as i work out how to do it!

my best average speed was 96mph over a 2 hours section. i was driving from hannover to berlin which is around 300kms and i could have sworn that my speedo never dropped below 110, but i guess when u take real speed into account etc distance divided by time doesn't lie!
two cars of particular note that i saw were a supercharged jaguar xkr and a bmw m5. the xkr was in the uk and on the slow lane, then just before we drove up to it, it pulled out and overtook the car in front and then accelerated off into the distance, what surprised me about this was the car's acceleration. it moved off as fast as if we were doing 40-50mph, i looked at the speedo and it was touching 100, that car must have some SERIOUS torque going on. loved it
and the m5 passed me on the autobahn, i was doing 110mph, it was going about 140 or 150, but a lamer pulled out in front of it so i decided to catch up whilst it was slowed down, i rolled out to 120, was hitting 125, then it floored it and was gone, i was almost doing 130 when it disappeared over the horizon (at maybe 150/160 again), a truly magnificent car.
also did a minor powerslide on one of the roads. it was entirely accidental. i was slightly pissed off with something and wanted to take a corner quickly to cheer myself up, i didn't notice that the corner was completely off camber and floored it. out came the tail but just like in gran turismo i countersteered, kept the accelerator in check and came out of it beautifuly. my heart didn't skip a beat heh.
