Interesting Question...

Hey everyone, I'm a PC user who really likes the look of the new Mac toolbar (the one where the icons enlarge when you run the mouse over them). Was wondering if there's a comparable program I can install on my desktop?

Appreciate the help guys.

Thanks guys. This is a great program, although I am having trouble maintaining icons for such programs as MSN Messenger and AOL Instant Messenger. But thanks, I appreciate your help!!

Yep, objectdock is great :)

I tried to convert my windows desktop to a Mac a while back, got this far link.

Looks nice. I like what you have on your to do list... "Get a real Mac"

I had Objectdock for awhile too. Prime, what are you having trouble with about the icons?

Well, first of all, some of the programs I added to the bar have no pre-programmed icon, so ObjectDock uses a generic one from its files. Second, programs like LimeWire have fuzzy icons (when magnified) because the program is just using the existing desktop icon and magnifying it. It's not a big problem though.

ObjectDock doesn't always agree with your RAM either. Don't try playing games with it on. Plus it just completely slows down your computer altogether really.

You can download icons from stardock's website for pretty much any program or game or whatever. I started making my own in Photoshop for some games so i got just what i wanted :)

Yz'Dock is definately the better of them all, its just annoying it can't stick to the desktop. If I hit the Show Desktop button (WinKey + D, which I use a lot), YzDock gets minimized too.

I agree...... YZ dock is BY FAR the best..... its looks really good if you get nice icons for it and it comes with a neat clock, cpu load monitor and recycle bin support.....

What kind of RAM hit does it have on your PC?

I tried following the link to download Smallwindows, but I ended up on a page cataloguing the files that have to do with SmallWindows here:

http://sourceforge.net/project/showfiles.php?group_id=102793&package_id=110271

I tried downloading both "Smallwindows-0.72-Source.zip" and "Smallwindows-0.72.zip", and I proceeded to extract them but the "Smallwindows.exe" file does nothing when I try to open it. Also, not really even sure what the files are for in the "Smallwindows-0.72-Source.zip" package either; just a bunch of readme files.

Help!

Nevermind, figured it out. Amazing what can be learned if you read the instructions!

:D Not sure if this is in the instructions or not, but one thing I did is put SmallWindows.exe in the Start -> Programs -> Startup folder, so SmallWindows starts when I log on to my account (without me having to remember to do it manually).

How exactly do you do this? I have never been able to find the Startup folder when in My Computer and trying to copy the Smallwindows.exe file to it...

You can always drag it directly on top of the Start button, pause for a few seconds, and navigate it through the menus to the Startup folder without even opening up explorer. You need a steady hand though.

The Startup folder is in C:\Documents and Settings\<your username>\Start Menu\Programs\Startup

Incidentally, programs that don't appear there would be in C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Start Menu\Programs

I uninstalled it already. I do know it is a pain when minimizing windows though. It takes it about 3-5 seconds to minimize with ObjectDock running

Regarding ObjectDock, does anyone know if there's some way I can put a shortcut to the Start Menu on there? I can find icons for it, but not too sure how to create a shortcut to it...

Edit: Nevermind, found it...

But I would like to know if I can have the system tray visible even though I am hiding my Taskbar...
