(Okay maybe interesting is a bit of a stretch but I found it interesting D=)

Kia ora guys!

So my friend just contacted me on PSN, telling me to come to his room.
Once I arrive, I find him sitting at the 5th place starting grid, I ask him why. He tells me to do a lap and then drive past him, so I do and when I come back around and go past him, the lap timer starts..
I quit out and then re-entered the track to get these pictures before starting the race, but then for no discernible reason you start in what would be considered the 'correct' place.

You'll have to excuse the shoddy camera work, trying to drive while holding an Iphone with a shot backlight isn't exactly the easiest thing I've done all day

This is what's considered the "start/finish line" it's a touch past the 5th place grid.

I'm not quite over it here so it hasn't triggered

I had actually expected it to trigger there, hence the next shaky shot

Honestly.. what the hell was that hands =/

I grabbed a clearer shot a few seconds later

Has anyone else experienced this peculiar effect using the Course Creator? I've never seen anything like this.

I've noticed this same thing on those shorter go-kart type tracks. It was about 6 months ago while doing a Seasonal event on one of those tracks. I just never brought it up as it was one of those little things that didn't bother me much. I've never noticed it tho on course creator as I very seldom mess with that part of the game.

EDIT: I believe it was the FF 430PP Seasonal Challenge from 5/9/2012 that I noticed it was like that.

EDIT: Yes, just ran that race and it is still like that. The timer starts the next lap before you get to the actual finish line. I thought it was kind of odd but just shrugged it off and moved on and forgot about it....till now that you brought it up.

Haha I seem to hear that a lot these days. I must like bringing up the minor stuff normal folk just shrug off.

It's not that it bothered me I just thought it was a bit weird and wondered if it was an isolated case :)

I make you think about the stuff you never cared about, that's gotta be worth something.

I mean it's not worth much but, shuddup I take my victories when I can get them!

Yea, headlights stuck on, windshield wipers on, and now this. Things like that just don't bother me. But to each their own. Just pointing out that I've seen it before.

I have a problem, I can't stop picking apart the smallest and weirdest stuff about this game for lack of better stuff to do!

Yeah.. uni needs to start soon me thinks.

Also the windshield wipers thing wasn't my thread  but I did comment in it with great intrigue :sly:

Eifel Kart has been like that since the game came out.

Hmm well I guess that answered whether or not it's an occasional incident then, interesting how I've never noticed it till now. Though I normally stick to Toscana and Mt Aso so I suppose it's not that surprising

Incidentally, looking over my thread titles I swear I'm subconsciously trying to see how many different adjectives as I can use

It's a similar thing with the Top Gear Test Track. Despite there being a clearly defined, and rather well known, start/finish line, PD seems to have completely ignored it, which really annoys me, as I'd like to run proper standing test laps, but have to make a rough guess as to where the game believes the start line to be.

Isn't Cape Ring like this too? There might be a line but it's not where I expect it to be and I never seem to see it if there is.

Looks like we all have met the Kart glitch. Once I noticed that i ignored it. after all the start is where the software starts the clock

I guess, this might be a coding error, that PD haven't noticed yet. - It's fairly odd, that the new lap starts way before the start-/finishline, I must say. Though, I remember that, this have happened to me before, in a seasonal event-race, - might have been the Leaf G (GT Academy)-seasonal, but I'm not sure.

I noticed that too on Eifel Kart in one of the more recent seasonals - I just put it down to something similar like Spa or Suzuka where the lap timing line is different to the start line - except PD hadn't marked the line:lol:

I've run a few standing laps there and it seems that with most cars using the bumper cam and making the crack in the road just vanish does the job, even though it can still go wrong and start the timer.
