none,because my 1st 4 rrod'ed
I have tried a 342hp 97 civic,89 lancer,90's lancer and a 90's Subaru(i think) all close to the power limit, tried with TC off,on,..tried going to fast into the corners to bounce off(easily enough to not get a penalty mind you),tried driving perfect, tried rwd,fwd,4wd,tried setting to acceleration and top speed to..i just cant seem to win or even come close to it,i keep losing by an average of 9secs each time..i got $560 000atm and although i don't NEED the money or experience it bugs me that i can't beat this, any suggestions?

In the intermediate I was able to do it with the Lancer at about 339 hp or so but I was able to smoke them with my little Lotus 111R RM at 309 hp.

On the last series I used a RS200 Rally car modded to stage 3 and a turbo and destroyed them on every stage in all three events. Nice little car there.

I struggled until I read on here, slow is fast!!!
Don't attack the course, sideways - no traction - no speed!!!
I found I whooped them in an Escort rally car after trying various others with no joy.
Just golded the whole lot in the little beastie!

I done the intermediate with the Race Modified Impreza , no other upgrades , tweak the ratios to suit the stage ,just listen to the co driver and brake early , the car accelerates so quick and has a much better top speed than the opposition , was an easy win over 5 stages.

Protip: For the Avanced, use R3 tyres. HUGE difference for me (using a C4 WRC)

u can change your tires?i thought you could only use sports or something for those challenges(doh)well if you can change your tires thats pretty much problem solved lol,i still have the civic(but only sports on it).If that doesn't work out ill have to grab one of the cars you guys are tallking about, hope it works out, thanks guy's

The Advanced level you can use racing soft, and it should be easy with a WRC level car(I used a SX4 WRC that I got with a gift ticket).

Pace notes are the most helpful in tarmac as the terrain don't vary as much and corner don't have some crazy camber to them. The intermediate I did it with a tune Evo IX with a rear wing and it wasn't hard at all.

I saw that there was a soft sport restriction on the beginer and intermediate but don't recall looking at the last set. Don;t even know what was on my car then but whatever it was the RS200 was more than a match for them. Closest stage was about 6 seconds. I had that Ford up to 170mph in the dirt and snow what a blast :)

I was really having trouble with the expert Tarmac rally myself. Make sure you are using racing soft tires, and if you use the car alot I've found that engine rebuild seems to not give you that much ex hp but it really sharpens up it's response. If that doesn't work you can use skid recovery force. I hate using aids and almost never do but that one really helped there.

Engine rebuild results depend on the number of miles on the car and the current condition of the oil.

A car with 2,000 miles in need of an oil change will benifit a lot from a rebuild but all it needs is an oil change and the result is same but much cheaper. A car with 20,000 miles on the other hand will benifit great from a rebuild.

i've never used the skid recovery force,i still don't even know what effect it has on driving lol,i just never bothered to see what it was,all i ever have is tcs-5(usually) and abs-1...ill have to test out the SRF later on,thanks for the tip

I used a Lancia Delta Integrale fo beginner and intermediate mode. On intermediate I tuned it to 240 kW and tuned the transmission a bit. Most performance was the tyre change at all.

Was easy to win it. Even advanced level is easy with a rally car. On tarmac just change to race tyres and everything is fine.

all the cars i bought were new(or newly bought from ucd),all the money i spent on them was to use them for the one challenge lol, thats how much it bugs me when i can't beat something..so no engine rebuild wouldnt be needed

I cleared the intermediate tarmac rally with the BMW Z4 M Coupe. A shame you can't take that car to off-road events!
As a tip, though, take the time to check out the map before takling the special stage, to get a sense of the layout. The co-driver isn't really reliable.

for the intermediate rally I used a 2010 subaru wrx sti, tuned up to the power limit with fully customizable suspension. With this car I was passing at least two of the cars in front of me on each stage, winning by almost 30 seconds in some cases, so you shouldn't have much trouble if you use a new sti.

Bouncing off walls is probably the last thing you want to do. As others said - slow in, fast out. Make sure you're using the best tires allowed.

Good luck!

I skipped the rally, and went back to it once I won my C4 rally car from golding the Sabastian Leob rally challenge, the car smoked the Intermediate and Expert GT rally event! :)

I did this with the GTO Twin Turbo 98', fully modified, so you could easily do this with the Lancer. The driving assists you will want to use are Skid Recovery Force and ABS 1. For tuning (hopefully your car is fairly stock) install the mid range turbo, then the rest of the performance upgrades that will get you just below the cap. Also install all of the drive train upgrades and full racing suspension. The adjustable transmission upgrade is also a good choice because the rally courses have a few straights but are mainly made up of turns. By tuning the transmission to a top speed of 140-160 your car will be able to take advantage of the mid-range turbo for the corners and will rarely hit the rev limiter on the straights. For tires choose Sports Soft (I think that is the max.) Another good thing to do is check to see if you can add AERO to the car for extra down force.

Adjust the torque range to 30/70, lower the suspension all the way, increase the spring rates +1.0, up the bumps +1, up the sways +2. Add 1.5 camber front and back. Leave the LSD setting alone (I reduce the front braking sensitivity by 10.) If you have aero, max it out.

This seems like a lot to beat the challenge, not all of it is necessary, but your fully upgraded car can still be used for Bspec Bob or other challenges.

**I like tuning :D

i noticed that the first time i tried it earlier in the game,he once told me to go 3rd left on a 1st right turn...i've come to learn he isn't the best co-driver..he reminds me of my girlfriend at yeild signs lol

i actually already have the 98gto :) ill have to give that one a go to with the settings your providing,i tried it with it already(only power increase not much else then)and got smoked by 4-5 secs per race :(

I used my Lancia Delta Integrale Evoluzione at 325bhp with everything turned off bar the ABS at 1, Golded Dirt (a good 20 seconds ahead) and Snow (a good 1min 29secs ahead!) against 2 Evos and an Impreza, still got Tarmac to go but not predicting any problems.

Use which ever one is lighter. The GTO is about 1800Kg and with weight modification 3 is about 1200Kg. I am pretty sure a stock Lancer with weight modification 1 would be a better choice.

I personally would of used the Lancer (I didn't have one.) I decide to beat it with the GTO because it was my favorite car from GT1. :dopey:

not sure about THAT^ specific car,but thats what happened to me,beat begginner and the first 2 intermediate ones with my civic without a problem and ahead by 18-25 secs, then the tarmac one i keep losing by 10-20 secs no matter how good i drive or set the car lol

ok :) is this lancer in the dealership or the ucd?doesn't matter either way i will find some way to get it..also,the gto was my fav car from gt4!

I though you said you had one.
"HAD" lol, sorry i should've clarified on that,i bought probably 4-5 different cars for that race, sold everyone after i lost with them as they were no use to me otherwise besides the civic which i still have, like i said i have 560 000 at my disposal so it's no biggie, ill track one down!!
