After seeing this thread, I was thinking would it be a good idea to have international forums? Where people could speak in their own language to others from the same country. Like "Duch chat" or "German chat. or would that divide the community?

Just a thought

Dunc.

I'm not sure why that thread is still there but last time we had a thread for a specific language it was not allowed as it would be too hard to moderate. I’m sure the moderators as it is, would have a hard enough time fitting in a 5 minute crash course to Zulu among other languages. It also raises many ethical questions as it may offend members not being able to read what is being said by certain members in another language.

As I believe this still stands. GTPlanet is an English forum and will stay so.

Jordan
It would be impossible for me and the moderators to moderate, help, or support anyone who couldn't speak English. And before anyone suggests it, no I would not give someone moderator powers just because they can speak a foreign language. I want to be able to understand everything said on my website.

Fair point Alpha....

Or Jordan

Both of you!

I know what Jordan said about GTP staying an English forum, but I was wondering if there WERE int'l forums created, if a member of that nationality might not be able to moderate the place?

I distinctly rememebr a drop box with a bunch of different languages in it on the GTP home page, the actual home page, gtp.net, a couple of years back, as well.

What happened to that?

Please re-read my quote ALPHA posted above.
