You all know it, Internet speak. There's tons of abbreviations, and it's hard to keep up. I have a couple of questions about this language.

Question #1: I know what LOL, TTYL, OMG, OMFG, WTH, and IRL stand for, but what the heck does IMO stand for?

Question #2: I don't know if this is "rude" or not, and I'm sorry if it is, but I've noticed that people on the Internet never type "owned", they always type "pwned" or "own3d". Now I personally do not like that phrase and never use it, but why don't people just type the word?

Thanks.

:-)

IMO = I motivate optometrists

in my opinion, actually. urban dictionary is good for these type of things.

and people type the word "owned" instead of its variations, you just need to look harder.

1. In My Opinion

2. Because it looks better - Or so I'm told... Or maybe it's because your parents can't read it...

Thanks Duck! Now it makes sense.

Fission Phailed !!!-MGS2 reference(Metal Gear solid 2)
Pwned,pwnage, epic fail... so on and so on

It's actually FISSION MAILED, but whatever. :p

pwned or own3d are just the 1337 version of owned. iirc, it all started when a game designer misspelled owned with pwned and it was accidentally left misspelled in the released version, but that's only what i've heard.

I personally like to say pwned, buts that only amongst the friends that i play cs with.

Done deal, DA.
I will be quiet for now on before I go on.

In any FPS game and hopefully there is a crouch button. T-bagging the dead is very funny but weird at the same time.
And we really didn't need that contribution.

There is also our version of IMO, that is IMHO (In my Humble Opinion).
which some of us old-timers feel is a bit more polite when offering your opinion and tearing someone a new one.:)

Isn’t coming here just to say “noob” a bit spammer??? Now I feel curious, who began with “noob”? Why not just say “Newbie” (the exact word)?

Because its shorter, and sounds a lot better than 'newbie' imo.

I usually don't even say noob anymore, i say nub.

So, wait a sec:

newbie = newb = noob = n00b = n0b = nob = knob = tool

newbie = tool

Wow awesome, next time a newly registered member makes a hello gtplanet thread here, I'm just going to say "hi, welcome to GTP, you're a very polite tool!"

:lol:

nube or knob are my favorite variations of newbie, it's pretty much just the nature of the intertubes for sayings to evolve/get shortened constantly.

ZOMG!!
