A.Mackin
I scoured the interweb for a GT5 forum and this seemed to be the online active one which isn't awful to navigate, so here I am!

I'm a dab hand at racing games, but I've only just got a PS3 and GT5, so I'm still somewhat off the pace I guess

If anyone has any advice for the game, or fancies a few races, give me a shout. My PSN is A.Mackin....I think

Oh, and hello!

Over and out

Welcome to :gtpflag:, you have made a great decision by coming here:D

You can find a lot of information about driving tips over here, should help you get up to pace;)

I reccomend you do both A Spec and B Spec races. Do all the events. I was able to get gold in all but the A Spec formula GT races, if you're as good a gamer as I (and you'd about have to be) do that. Try all the licences. See if you can get gold in all the B licence at least. Do all the special events you can. I was not able to finish them all. You'll get to about level 30 with little effort, then you'll see its harder to level up from there. Read the forums for what cars to use. You can tell by the requirements listed for a race and also take a look at the typical cars you'll race against. Try to get a car that looks like it would beat the best one there.

Want to race now?
I'm pretty bored at the moment doing nothing but UCD refreshing.

Would do, but I'm entertaining tonight. I'm off the PS3 for tonight, but got a whole day of it tomorrow!

Thats what I'm kinda doing Jack, essentially trying to gold everything offline first. Is it just me though or is the gold difficulty on the special licenses brutal? I know I'm new to this game, but I'm much better than average on racing games and finding the licenses on gold borderline impossible!

I've got gold on everything so far (up to level 12) but it's taking so many attempts to do it. I dont mind too much on the 11 second Nascar attempts, because it doesnt take long to have a hundred goes on it, but the Nurburgring ones are the bane of my existence right now!

Ah, no problem, and welcome :)
Nice to have some positivity around here :D

The Licenses are really easy to Gold compared to GT4.
The S Licenses are the easiest Licenses ever.
To improve try Golding everything in order for the Licenses.
For the NASCAR, turn off ABS.
Also, try to drive without TCS (get a wheel if you want) as you will go much faster.
What Nurburgring races are you talking about?

Welcome to the forums mate. Some of the golds are indeed quite brutal, this includes licenses and special events. I haven't golded everything yet, I still have Eiger Nordwand on the Grand Tour and the Vettel Challenges to gold, I think they will take a lot of hard work.

If you're not able to gold the AMG specials yet, then you don't know the 'ring well enough, the actual gold times are not too challenging once you're reasonably familiar with the course. I found those some of the most enjoyable challenges in the game, and when i'd golded them I knew the ring a hell of a lot better than I did to begin with. I think you could spend your whole life learning the ring, theres so much of it and it's such a challenging track. I love it now :)
