Invisible pit crew?

I was doing an arcade race with 16 cars on the Nurburgring (Time/Weather change version) and when I, along with about 6 other cars, made my pit stop to change tires, I noticed that there was no pit crew. My car just lifted up, revolved around my car, and then my car dropped and off I went. Note that the AI's pit crew was invisible also.

My question is, is this normal? And if so, why?
 
It's normal. It's a small detail PD has never worried over when it emulates other aspects in the game with realism. It's like watching them change oil without any oil drain pan under the car, or jacks to lift it up, or painting the car without taping it. Would it be cool to see? Sure. Is the game an amazing SIM without it? You betcha.

By the way, does this happen only on 16 car races?
 
I think it only happens on the Norschleife and Tsukuba. I guess the pits are too cramped for their normal animations, or else PD just ran out of time to set them up.
