I am stuck on the 3rd Invitational event (F430 Challenge on Magello). I can pass the first 2 cars right away and get into 5th by the end of the first lap. But by then there is a 4-5 sec gap between 4th-5th place. 3 laps is not enough to even get close to the 4th place guy. I am using a DFGT, Semi-Auto shifting, 2 SC, 1 TC, 0 AB. Driving line ON. This event seems impossible to me.

Which is the 3rd International event again? The F40 from Redwood Park?

What circuit/car is the event on?

I don't mean in a bad way at all when I say that, if you're using the racing line, or if you're relying on the racing line, then you don't know the circuit well enough. And when one doesn't know the circuit properly, the seconds can be lost all round the circuit.

The first thing I'd do is turn off the racing line and learn the braking points. Once the braking points are down, it all falls into place.

612 at Paul Ricard? If that's the one, I'd say braking points are not that useful, since Paul Ricard is all about odd braking points and odd late apexes ...

But in any case, Alan's suggestion is valid. Get rid of the racing line and learn the circuit for yourself.

My own advice now: You know you can practise any car/track combo in online mode, right? OPen your own lobby and use that feature to do as many laps as you wish, all alone on the track or with friends. Good luck! 👍

The gear ratios in SCC did not get much thought unfortunately, and if the event in question is the 612, then this car suffers heavily from this. There's a huge gap between 2nd and 3rd gear, so when braking into a 2nd gear corner, make sure you give extra time in 3rd gear before downshifting.

Hmmm. Honestly, I can't remember having much difficulty with this one. (The 612 at Paul Ricard was a nightmare in comparison). But (a) it was a very long time ago (September of last year?) and (b) since the patches, the AI has changed quite a bit and what may have worked back then, may not anymore. And it may in fact be much more challenging now.

This answer is kind of obvious and generic but do your best to drive around the other cars, even if there's some side to side contact, but try not to hit them directly from behind. It will slow you down too much. The AI is awful in this game. They run into you, move much too slowly through tight chicanes and are able to exit them and put power down much too quickly. As AlanG suggested, you might try some practice laps of Mugello on-line in your private lobby, just to develop a good feel for the track and the lines you need to take. And know the proper lines to take and the fastest way around this track will probably help you more than anything else.

KJackobs, I recommend going into the Supercar Showroom, and into the pit area, and making some car setup changes. There are a couple of things you can do to improve the raw pace of the car.

Camber: Most people use maximum negative camber, front & rear. It's more of a challenge for wheel users with this, as it makes the car a bit more unstable, especially under braking. But I recommend trying out maximum negative, and if it's too hard to control, reduce to around -2.5 front, and maybe -2 on the rear (more positive on the rear may help reduce oversteer).

Roll bars: I find in most cars that hard front & rear roll bars improve cornering speed, without causing too much sliding or traction problems.

Springs & Dampers: Best to stay soft.

Ride height: There are varying views on this. I believe almost all cars should be minimum front and maximum rear ride height (with the exception of the Enzo, DBR9, 599XX, FXX and a couple of others), and I believe it still helps straight line speed (before the latest patch, users could use even more extreme ride values to really boost straight line speed. It was an implementation error).

From previous experience, the difference in my laptimes between default setup and a good setup can be around 2 to 3 seconds (for Mugello with 430C, I'd say my laps are around 2.5 seconds slower using the default setup).

Such a silly boy. If he's racing in the invitational challenge, it means he hasn't unlocked this car yet and can't make any changes. :D None-the-less, once he HAS unlocked this car, I'm sure he'll find this info useful.

Oh really. Using this cheat, you can unlock setups before the event:

L1 R1 L1 R1 L1 L1 R1 R1 O

No only messing. That cheat (LRLRLLRRA) unlocks Rainbow Road in Mairokart! The "Invitational Event" part didn't really register with me, and I can't really remember much of the format of the offline mode!

I finally beat the race. Now thats a feeling of accomplishment! What finally did it for me was using the controller instead of my DFGT. Set SC, TC, A-B all to 4 with auto transmission. Felt like taking 2 steps back. On my winning race all 3 laps were 1:58.XX. With the wheel they were all 2:00.XX.
