So I've been running the app on the iPhone 5 for a while now, and have noticed a few issues.

Occasionally, when I submit a post, it won't leave the loading phase. Eventually I give in and press cancel, and it will have either posted or not.

Occasionally, I'll click next page, or on a page number, and it won't go. Usually pulling down for the refresh works though.

Sometimes when I click on the news or forums tab, the area where the content should be just goes blank.

None of these are that bad, and I don't mind, but I figured I'd at least let someone know 👍

I have the same issues. Unfortunately, the app is no longer being updated, but GTP is working on a mobile site. Lets hope it's better than the app.

Also had these same exact problems. Unfortunately, I decided to uninstall the app from my iPad and stick to browsing the site on Safari because the issues were so bad. Pages would load with gray boxes all over the place and sometimes everything would literally go blank, causing the app to crash.

Try uninstall and reinstalling the app. I had that happen to me and reinstalling helped significantly decrease the frequency of issues for me.

Though unfortunately, since the app isn't supported anymore, I don't think that that will ever be completely solved.

Yes, as mentioned, the iOS and Android apps are no longer supported and are about to be replaced by a new, responsive website, optimized to work well with all types of smartphones and tablets.

It will be launching very soon now; thanks for your patience and keep an eye out for further announcements. 👍

Very nice, can't wait as I'm not in the whole iOS/Android ring. :)

Hopefully it'll still work fine on a desktop though. It would be somewhat ironic if a forum dedicated to a video game didn't work well on a typical gamer's rig.

I'm sure it'll be divided into separate forum layouts similar to GTP11 and Mobile 1.0 layouts we have now.

Responsive Web Design means one page designed to work on all devices and sizes, from mobile to full desktop.

First, was there a recent change made? I have been using Mercury browser for iOS and it has been showing no thread titles for a couple of days. I had to go back to Chrome. Chrome does not like forum text windows and becomes aggrevating. I switched to Mercury so I could use GTP without issue. If the change makes Chrome behave then no loss if Mercury is unsupported.

Second, hearing someone say a site is becoming optimized for mobile devices is always scary to me. Far too often, it means a site where I can't zoom or do any of the nice functions granted via a touchscreen browser, and then am strictly limited to tiny amounts of data on screen at a time. For bonus points, some have a setting to turn off mobile browsing, but then if you click on any internal link it resets to mobile. For double bonus, it will reload me to the home page if I try turning it back off. For a true, rubber glove, no lubrication experience, I click to turn off mobile browsing and the script that detects a mobile browser keeps running so I get stuck in an idiot's loop of mobile home page, click, home page, auto-direct, mobile home page.

Please, avoid this.

As for the app being no longer supported; it was good until the phone hardware passed up the necessity of Web site apps.

One thing I never want to see again.

Forum text windows? I've used iOS Chrome but didn't notice any issues here, and nothing has changed.

The new site should work fine with Mercury or Chrome.

I hear you, and I agree, most "mobile websites" out there are absolutely awful. Don't worry, though; GTPlanet's new responsive/mobile site will have none of those pitfalls you mention, and will offer the same functionality you'd get on a desktop computer.

1 out of every 4 visits to the site is made from a mobile device now (not including app users), so it's important I get it right. That's why it's taking me so long to get it completed, but hopefully the additional effort will be worth it.

Yeah, it happened after a Chrome update. It will automatically position my view to where I can't see my cursor for the keyboard when I try to select or highlight text. I've even reinstalled it twice. Might be just an iPhone 5 thing.

In fact, it did it when I started this post.

Yay!

Excellent. Let me know if you need any testing help, since I'm on my phone 99% of the time.

I use firefox on my S2 with the phoney add-on.

Which allows me to tell sites I am a mac, linux, windows, iOS or what ever device.

I personally prefer to navigate with a desktop version.

Is there an estimated timeframe for the release of the new site?

No exact time frame, but it is (finally) getting close now.

I've actually had the app crash and boot me right out several times. Very annoying.
