Heh, I tried searching with no luck.

In Windows 2k, how do you find the IP address currently assigned to your specific machine? I've found where you tell it to configure dynamically or statically, but I can't find where it tells me what I've currently been assigned.

Thanks!

- Start Menu -> Run
- Type CMD.exe
- in the command line, enter ipconfig

This is only the local network IP address if you're connected to the internet through a router or a Proxy. Where you looking for your internet IP address?

Well, both. Like I said, I found where you tell TCP/IP how to set your IP, but not where you find what your IP is.

Thanks for the fast help!

You're welcome!

For the local IP, the ipconfig command is the fastest way to find what it is in W2K (unless you use a third party add-in).

For the internet address, unless your network admin is very lazy on security, you won't be able to check the internet IP locally. You can go to a website that will tell you what it is though.

Like this one:
(Your external IP address should be in bold, in the last paragraph)

Since Duke is a mod, he can always post here, then view the IP address logged against the post!

Domestic routers will tell you what IP Address they have picked up, anyway.
