So I've inherited an iPad, specifically a 1st generation 32gb wi-fi model. I know there are some iOS apps that can connect to certain sims and add functionality to them, but beyond iHUD (for rFactor and iRacing, though I don't have an iRacing account), Sin:Speed (for most sims) and that other one that connects to DCS A-10C to give you touch control over the MFDs, I don't know of any others. Are there some worthwhile ones?

Even without such apps I think I'll be mounting it on my rig anyway because I can use it as an accessory monitor for Steam chats and temperature monitoring, that sort of thing, and it's going to waste otherwise. It would be nice if I could add some more functionality to my rig though.

There's also iRaceDash for iRacing. That one's neat because it lets you manage your fuel using your phone's touch screen. A lot of people buy it only because of this.

Hmm, seems like I've already found all the useful stuff then! It's a shame none of them try to mimic something like a MoTeC CDL3, though, even just Sin:Speed with a 7-seg or alphanumeric LCD/LED-style font would be awesome. But hey, they're pretty cheap (provided you get given the hardware to run them on like I did) so I guess it could be worse... I think my next step will be to finally try and get some sims to output data through a USB port so I can hook up an Arduino, but finding the time to do that is tricky.

Yup, if you use it as an additional monitor you can run iSpeed, IRDDu and another program by an Italian dude whose name I forgot -- the latter is not freeware, though, but it supports touch inputs if you have a touchscreen monitor.

I would love to see more stuff like these for sims, especially flight sims.

I myself prefer DashMeterPro which I use on my Nexus. It's available for all major sims as well but you have to pay for each version. I'm not sure if it's available for IOS. It has a ton of customization, including custom layouts.

Wow, that is nice, the best looking one I've seen so far. I don't have an Android device though, maybe - in a hilariously hacky way - I could get Android running on a virtual machine on my PC, run that software on it then use my iPad as an additional monitor, like some sort of deluxe workaround. Seriously though, I would love to see that ported to iOS.
