Not sure if the mods mind me throwing this up here but I thought I'd give it a go.

A place to post up some gems and turkeys to avoid.

Anyhow I'll start off with a cracking little game on iPhone. Maybe on other systems too I'm not sure.

Title. Great little war game HD.

A turn based strategy game for 59p. Lots of content and extra levels to be bought if wanted.

The stand alone game offers good value. The levels are your normal tutorial beginner type. Adding more units and options as you progress.

A nice touch is the fact that you can replay levels to gain a silver, gold status etc.

Plenty of humour within too.

Levels are a cross between risk type board maps. Each unit can move a set amount and have strengths and weaknesses.
The maps can get quite big as you progress and the turn base functions make this game ideal for popping out on the bus or having a long session.

Best game I've put on my phone.
Check out the reviews around the web.

Would like to hear from others on good or bad games.

Doodle Jump on the iPhone is incredibly addicting.

Agree with doodle jump. That's pretty well known.
There's loads of great games that don't appear on the featured category on iPhone.

A Game Dev Story.

It's one of those games that gets you addicted like crack!👍

Glow Hockey 2/HD is probably the best table hockey game you can get for iPhone.

Real Racing and Real Racing 2 are great iPhone and iPod Touch games. Good graphics, and the 2nd has over 30 real cars to tunic and buy. On the iPad version of the 1st game you can even import custom skins for the cars!

On iPhone I am more into the resource management type games, so I am currently playing Zombie Farm, Smurf's Village, and Zombie Cafe.

My first game that I bought was Millennium Falcon Gunner AR. It has a normal mode where you are playing Luke in the gunner chair on the Millennium Falcon and you tilt to aim. But it also has AR mode where instead of the Death Star and space backdrop it uses your camera, so it looks like aTie Fighter flew out of your friends' nose or whatever. It requires 360 degree movement to play AR mode though. I have a couple of other AR games that are fun, but I want to try the Real Laser Tag game I just got. It uses your camera and the flash light to play laser tag with friends in the dark. You aim for their light. My brother and I wil be testing that teh next time I see him.

Also for those into G1 Transformers there is Transformers G1: The Awakening, which is a pretty good turn-based RPG, but a bit short on the story mode.

And I have Go Go Gadget, which is just a running/jumping game, but you can unlock full episodes of the Inspector Gadget cartoon.

And for quick less than five minutes games I play Flight Control, Harbor Master, and Falling Sands.

I have a lot of other stuff too that I have downloaded but not spent time with. If you get the App Shopper App it will have daily updates on price changes in apps. You can sort it by category (so look for just games) and type of change (so just looking for free) and you can find the occasional gem put up for free to advertise a new game the developer just launched.

For those with iPhone ( I don't know if Android has it yet or not) I highly recommend Army of Darkness Defense.

At the moment it is free, so don't wait to pick it up. What will it hurt to try a free game?

I got it because it was free and it was Army of Darkness. It's the same reason I picked up the Bill & Ted's Excellent Soundboard a while back. I figured like all other franchise tie-ins it would be half-done and just enough to suck $1.99 out of fans. But last night I started playing it and didn't want to put it down. I got to Wave 30 before putting it down. Then today I saw a review by Cheap Ass Gamer that also said it was a good game. That is when I decided it wasn't just me. This really is a good game in the portable defense genre.

Completely agree. On android and iphone. Great humor in it too.

Drag racing is a lot of fun for a free android game.

Wild west pinball for iphone is the best pinball game I've played on a phone.

I'm addicted to Fruit Ninja.

Street Fighter IV is great for iphone too.

Fifa 11 and Real Racing 2 have incredible graphics for a phone as well

Pew Pew 1 and 2 are fun. I use Android and currently enjoying Dungeon Hunter 2. It runs smooth and looks incredible on the Super AMOLED screen.

No Army Of Darkness on Android.

GT5 Sceptic
Parking Mania. The single best parking game of any of them.

Got that one, fun game.

For android users who enjoy Game dev story. There is now Grand prix story by the same development crew.

Should be coming to iPhone soon I hope.

Following your recommendation I downloaded this game and have been having fun and frustration with it as I built up my troops while trying to beat level 50 and then trying to last more than 5 minutes of Endless Wave. I'm pretty much maxed out now and have worked out how to survive Endless without too much babysitting, the problem is I started a game about 4 hours ago and don't seem to be in any danger from the skeleton army so it may truly be an endless game :scared:

Also I think you would like Great Little War Game based on the other games you play 👍

Found another little gem on iPhone.

Drawrace2. Similar to Flight control.
Use your finger to draw laps and then watch your results. Sounds easy eh.

F1, rally, V8, dirt, snow and asphalt, this has got the lot.
Great physics and long career mode.
36 tracks.
180 events.
Local Multiplayer and online.
Worth 69p.

Anyone like Total war or strategy type games?

Ravenmark is for you on iPhone.
Bloody brilliant.

If you are into the text-based strategy/RPG style games I can recommend Turf Wars.

When you claim new turf (which The Don gives you permission to do as you level up) you are limited by your GPS location or how much you have built up the influence of your other turf locations. And because your turf has limits I always find myself keeping one or two available for when I am traveling. I am on both sides of my town now and have two turfs in Louisville, KY right now at my old employer's building and my favorite bar (can't believe that wasn't claimed). You can take over turf from other guys, fight them, and form your own mob. The stronger your mob is the stronger you are in a fight. The app has a link to the game's forum built in so you can find where people post their invite codes and add them or post your own code.

Anyway, if you decide to get started or are already playing you can add me with my code: FoolKiller

This is a freemium title and you can buy respect points from The Don to gain extra turf, police immunity, health, money, henchmen, loot, etc. You can also use them to buy a custom invite code that is easy to remember.

Anyway, it is designed to work so that if you want to play free you are better off being social (social being used loosely as I have a mob of 24 without sending a PM or posting on the forum once), but you can survive alone if you are patient or willing to pay real money.

Also, important side note: NFS Shift 2 Unleashed is free right now, as is Sims Medieval.

[ANDROID STUFF]
I have Grand Prix Story, it's good fun but you have to waste research data on useless parts in order to unlock better ones, literally as soon as I upgraded a 'meh' part using about 90 points of data, something better was unlocked, and research data points are not just things you want to expend recklessly.

And the 'wing car', which is an F1 car, isn't the fastest vehicle in the game...

Other good games are Pinball HD for Tegra (I don't have crappy tegra, my device is modded to run it), Riptide GP (jet ski racing) and Bonsai Blast (similar to those bubble smash games, only fun).

My friend has Top Gear Stunt Challenge on his iPhone. I think its a cool idea for a game but it wasn't implemented very well. It is difficult to play thanks to having to tilt the phone to steer and it not being correctly configured (My friend's fault).

Where are people getting Shift 2 from, can't find it anywhere.
In the US iPhone AppStore I search for Shift 2 and it is the second hit.

There is no guarantee that it is available outside the US or on Android.

Next few days here android is having 10¢ sales on top notch apps. Minecraft and Good Little War Game I bought today. Both worth 10¢ easy.

Grand theft auto 3. £2.99.
I imagine it will go up in price a pound or so, grab it while you can.

Oh forgot to mention its great, but you knew that anyway.
