Anyone know of a good and/or cheap iPod car kit?

I use an old casette tape that just plugs into the headphone jack, but the audio only comes out of the right-side speakers. I've also tried a cheap FM transmitter, but it also does the same thing. I've tried both in my other car, but the same thing happens.

Of course, the headphones that come with the iPod work properly, so I've deduced that I probably have to shell out extra for official, or at least, semi-official iPod accessories.

Any suggestions (park your anti-iPod crap in another post, please)?

i personally use the aux-input on my deck, using high-to-low input converter and an old headphone jack, but it requires some wire splicing. and if your using a deck that accepts tapes, your kinda screwed there, id sugest getting a new deck that has ipod support built in to it. i dont know of and off the top of my head, but i would suggest best buy for a start.

Hey, pupik. You can check out what I went through in search of a car kit here. I researched many FM Transmitters, but I wasn't impressed. If you are going that route though, I suggest Griffith Roadtrip, but it retails for $90. You can get them on eBay or amazon for $50 - $70, but a lot of them are "open box". Personally, I wouldn't want to go through open-box buy from eBay sellers.

I've decided to wait until I have enough money for an Alpine CD deck. After checking out their website on how iPod friendly they are, I'm sold. Best CD deck I've owned was an Alpine and mine was dependable as hell. I'll probably be getting a Alpine deck around $200 that will let you navigate/control your iPod from the deck.

Yup... why the couldn't/can't do that on all radios even OEM ones is beyond me. Then again there wouldn't be any retarded accessories to sell for the iPod.

BestBuy forgot to add that you also need a interface adapter kit, which is another $100. So you are looking at $300 + installation I guess.

I've been looking into this too. If your deck can take a CD-changer, have a look at the Dension kit. You can self-install if you know what you're doing, or a qualified fitter can do it in an hour or so.

What kind of car do you have???? I have a 2005 Nissan Sentra that has an AUX in on the stereo, and I got a cable to connect to it, and it plays wonderfully in the car. Does your car have one of those???

My brother hooks his iPod that way too. That would be the best way to go for the price, I think.
