I have an iPod classic, and have done for about three years, and have had no problems with it until now.

Out of nowhere, the input jack has become faulty. I have headphones and a lead for my car radio, and now only one side of both play music. I've been careful with the iPod and am fairly confident that there is no water damage on the inside.

The slot at the bottom still works fine, and I have no problems playing music on the docking station. I know that the car speakers and headphones are fine because I tested them by playing a CD and using the headphones on the PC.

Any help anyone can offer?

Try another cable cause the cable could be faulty, if you have done this it could be the headphone jack it self.

In that cause i would recommend you get a new music player.

Do you know what generation your iPod Classic is? For one of the older Classic generations, the headphone jack going bad is a pretty notorious problem. From your description, it sounds like the jack itself is going bad, and you'll need to replace that.

Either way though, there are places online that you can order the headphone jack by itself for pretty cheap. There are also guides to opening up your iPod. As long as you're careful, it's a pretty simple repair process.
