Ive been iracing on and off for about 1,5 years now and worked my self upp to A class license quite
fast. I do my racing in the Ford GT and the Mc claren mostly. Surprisingly Ive had a lot off bad races
even in this higher classes. Theres a lot off people that simply drive over their ability causing a lot off
mayhem in the races. And there are ofcourse incidents between people that can drive also, as racing
incidents with no one realy to blame. As long as you have this facts and there will Always will be people
with different skills and ability in online racing. But you have to have a more forgiving damage model
that allows a litle Contact or rubbing without braking your suspension. As it is now a Little nudge from
a oponents car can brake your suspension and then its off to the pits for 5 minutes not counting towing
or taking time to go around to the pits. its practically race over when this happens. And this happens a lot!!. I would say 6 out off ten, if you wants to challange and move upp in the field. The collisions model is also not god. A slight Contact makes your car loses all traction and spinning out as if they where almost weightless. Iracing demands wery much and its not Worth the effort when when theres so many factors around that will destroy your race. Funny enough despite everything iracing do to promote god and Clean racing its the racing game that frustrated me the most. Ive paid and signed for a whole year but dont feel its Worth the time or the Money untill they adress this.

I don't race the multi-class series, but isn't that a common issue that more people there seem to get taken out by greedy HPD/DP cars?

I usually race the Skip Barber, and usually all contact with another car unless it's a slight rub ends up in damage that requires a pit stop.

Never had a little nudge break my suspension. Yesterday I slid into the back of someone before the hairpin at Gilles and my front end was crumpled but I didn't need to pit. The driver I collided with pitted, but he was able to get back on his own and not require a tow.

I lost a win last night because 1st place in front of me hit the wall and came back into the track and just clipped my right front. Was I angry, sure, but it's not the end of the world.

Not knowing your Iracing name, it's hard to make a judgement on if your just constantly in the wrong place at the wrong time, or maybe being to aggressive in those MC series.

I'm Class C Road, and would like to move up to either the Grand-Am or Proto-GP (FGT,Mclaren,HPD) but read so many horror stories about drivers on it that it's almost ruined my taste. Also, my time is limited in iracing so running Barber is a great fit for me.

I don't want to offend and you may be the cleanest driver out there, but if you've already paid for a year, stopping now is just flushing your money down the toilet.

I'd try another series.

There are bad drivers everywhere. Internet & Real Life.

So you are perfectly ok with the collision and damage model not causing any frustration at all?
The question from me was do we like or want a more forgiving damage model to get a more user-
friendly racing. Im Clean and wery aware off my sorroundings and dont do any stupid manuevers causing other to wreck. I let obvius faster guy by instead off protecting the line. Ive stay away from people that seems or have a history
off being wreckless. Still the races end to often in the pit.....

Hi Bo, iRacing is not perfect but it improves constantly. A big problem I have watched in the last 2 1/2 years are console racers coming in, some are very fast drivers and some are not. One thing they have in common is they race erratically and throw caution to the wind. Not all of them mind you and in fact it is probably a small percent.

I have seen a lot of dive bombing and a general lack of respect. One has to check out their stats and they have just joined iRacing and fail to read the "Code of Conduct" When you inform them they have broken one or several rules they balk at the suggestion that there are even rules to iRacing.

How about signing up to the iRacing directory Bo, there are many GTPlanet racers there and the more the merrier. Who knows, perhaps one day Jav can resurrect the GTPlanet league.

I've done maybe 3 races in the HPD at Mosport (yep, tough track to start in the prototypes xD). I had NO issue getting around the slower cars, but a lot of other drivers were impatient and took themselves out. A lot of people have to realize that to drive iRacing in a way to extract the most enjoyment out of it, you should treat it like racing real life.

I adopt the mindset of "I'm driving an expensive car, around other expensive cars" and try to focus on getting you off of the other cars, and reprioritize. I feel like (in most part) you can only be fully in control of YOUR car, and you need to let other drivers control their car.

I think we would be asking for trouble by allowing more contact, I think people's moves/driving would just get more aggressive knowing they can get away with a bit more contact, which would probably mean more and more races would just end in tears.
I think it should be drive it like you own it ! A friend of mine races in a local club league, everyone is competitive but no-one makes contact because none of them can afford to fix their car every week, it doesn't make the racing any less exciting.
Maybe if iRacing made us pay to fix our cars driving standards would improve all over...Now that would be realistic  but also cut membership in half

I think it's fine the way it is. It has made me a better driver knowing that one little knock can possibly end my race. Just like in reallife.

This, unfortunately. The damage model is way from perfect and the slightest contact puts you off the race but if they fixed it then the above would happen for sure.

I'm okay with it. It might produce some slightly unrealistic, overly-cautious racing from some drivers, but overall it gives drivers something to consider. In the sim environment, I don't think that's such a bad thing.

We "pay" for repairs via SR points. As I understand it, iRacing considered implementing an in-game currency for things like repairs and setup changes, but decided to simplify matters and just go with SR and free setups.

I espically like the guys that try to divebomb, get into the corner to hot, and drift off the track. I brake a little harder then usual and snicker to myself as I pass on the inside.;)

I'm in my second season of the Grand-AM series and have only been hit once. My average incident per race is listed at 2.45. I'm division 2 and normally placed in the top split. I'm not seeing these issues you speak of with dirty drivers in MC racing. Maybe I've just been lucky.

Most of the complaints your hearing are from people who are still racing in the rookie series. That's what happens with rookies. Not to say there aren't incidents in the other series, just not as many. If your not a rookie and are still racing in the series then you need to expect rookie mistakes. The rookies are racing in the right place Your not.

Nope, like IRL you'd get rich jerks driving like they own the place and expecting everyone else to move over, since they can't afford to keep fixing their cars.
I'm fine with the model as is.

There seems to be an abundance of complaints in the P&GT series. Between there being too many HPD drivers in general, and bad HPD drivers in particular, fans of GT road racing appear to be unhappy with that series.
