im currently in the Gran Turismo All Stars race (professional mode). i changed my oil/washed my car before i started, like always. while on the 4th race (test course) my oil light came on. i still have lots of miles to put on this car, before the GT AllStar race is over.

my question is can driving with the oil light on cause Irreparable Damage to your engine, as in losing horsepower that cant be regained by changing the oil. ive heard this can be the case, but i was wondering if it was true.
 
i think u also net a gain of 2-3% HP just by putting miles on the car. so in the end i will be about negative 2-3%

You only lose a certain amount of HP. You will still be well above "stock" HP when all is said and done.
 
im not sure if it ever goes as high as 10%, but it does increase until about 800km are on the engine. then it steadily decreases until u are about 3% over, then it stops decreasing.

at least thats how i heard it.
 
Well you will notice a decrease in your car's performance while in the series. Just complete the series, then change your oil to regain your horsepower. The gain and loss of HP over the time and miles on your car isn't really that big a deal, not in my opinion... :burnout:
 
Yeah, I wouldn't really worry about it... even in high-powered cars, the actual HP gained/lost is very small, and 99.9% of the time it won't cause you to lose a race.
 
Well I had a Polyphony 001 (That a Formula 1 car to US :USA: dudes)

Any way the car's besides the point....

But I had 829bhp when I won it and put in :gt: Oil. Now I have 813bhp after many long series and enduro races.

It Goes down to 805 bhp after about 5 races then about 777bhp on the last 2 races in series. :banghead:

Then after the sereis is complete I do the Oil change and it goes back to 813bhp...

Plus it's got over 10,000 miles on the engine, will this effect my car performance in any way? :burnout:
 
^--- Performance, no. Mileage only affects HP (maybe torque?), but nothing else.
 
HP and torque are one and same. You cant lose one without the other.

If you want to keep your oil light from going nuts at you, just stay off of the redline on Test Course.

Also, I've gained 25 HP on my SVT Cobra R with about 390 miles added.
 
Does it make a difference on how modified your car is? In other words if the car has be driven for 390 miles with no upgrades and the hp increase is 25, will the extra 25 hp still be there if the car starts getting heavily upgraded.
 
yah it will still be there. u get a small gain in hp (25 in his case) by "wearing in" the engine. after u put a lot of miles on the car, this increase will be a lot less. probably around 2-3% higher than the engines stock hp.
 
An update on the Oil light. Speed, and redline have no bearing on it. It has been proven by Captain_Kirk and verified by a few others that it comes on at 189 miles/ 300 km.

Do a search for "189 miles" and you'll find it in a few threads.

Irreparable damage will occur. Although you will have a net gain in HP.

its not a big deal at all... if you have 800+ horses it is not really a big dea if you lose 10 or 15 horse, i think you'll still have tons of power

that happende to me in the GT world cup, i had my skyline up to 1072hp, now it's down to 1051 and i can't do **** about it

AAAAHAHHAHAHHAHA :mad::mad:
 
why doesn't someone just be patient and run a car through the 400 or 100m several times and test when the oil goes bad and the hp goews up, and down?

as far as oil going bad, Der Alta made a post in this thread. at 189 miles, the oil light comes on.

as far as "wearing in" an engine, this is what ive read in another thread:
0-300 Km (yah, kilometers) = little HP Change
300-800km = an increase of about 3-8%
+900km = a steady decrease, until about 1% greater HP than orig.

when u are doing a series race in professional, 20laps x 10 races, you dont have a chance to change your oil. you hit 189 miles about the 3rd or 4th race. thats a lot of time running on bad oil.
