I think someting is up with this site, in my profile it said that I had 482 posts, then it jumped to 487 and went back down to 482. I had posed replies, but they seem to disapear.

Other things are wierd too, there are new posts when I return to this site, but the forums don't seem to change, and I have to go through my profile to access them.

Anyone know whats up?

Hmm... seems like when I've read threads it doesn't change the envelopes to a faded envelope... Or it seems people reply in threads I'm subscribed to but I don't get an email conformation?that's about it? Might be im my head?

Nick:cheers:

I don't even bother subscribing to forums, when I first come into the site (whenever I may get on), I click on todays topics. (Same as the new posts button) I usually just leave it on that page and it continously updates, so I go and do something else and come back and see who's posted and stuff.

Man, I wish there was a "Questions & Comments" forum for this kind of stuff.

Yeah, that sure would be nice.

OK...

1. Am I experiencing difficulties? No. I have access GTP more or less continually from two separate networks over the last three days, and it has run faultlessly (thanks Jordan, your work this year has finally paid off!)

2. As already stated by vat_man Post Count Can Go Down As Well As Up. Posts in the Recyle Bin and Test Forum do not count towards your post count, therefore if you had contributed to a thread previously in (say) The Rumble Strip, but now in the Recycle Bin, you would notice a decrement to your number of posts.

3. Session Control, which tracks where you are and where you have been, is very difficult to do. It's easy to write so that the site knows who you are as you jump from page to page, but the work in tracking your path around the forum is tough - especially if you are using multiple windows. This is further compounded by cacheing, which can store previous versions of a page, and show them rather than the most up to date version. My advice is to look at the Last Poster and Last Post Time or a given thread/forum, and use that as a guide. It's what I do, and it works for me, not least because I often don't have time to read the whole of GTPlanet in a given visit. GTP also says "The time is now HH:MM", if that's not a reasonable approximation of the current time, you need to refresh the page.

4. No, you did not get 'banished'.

5. Hey, you didn't leave it terribly long before you started complaining about a lack of replies, did you? A whole 7 minutes! You have the patience of Job.

Hope that answers your points.

As Giles has already pointed out, it appears to be a caching issue. In your browser, try clicking on "Tools", "Internet Options", and then on the "Settings" button in the "Temporary Internet Files" section. Once there, change the "Check for new versions of stored pages..." setting to "Automatically". There's a chance that could help...let me know what happens.

Well, I couldn't find it on the page and i had to go through my profile to get to it, and I still can't see the new posts unless I post something, which explains the period (.) In my previous post. I can only see my last post unless I post.

Do you really have to make those blank posts? Doesn't refresh do the job? Have you tried any of our suggestions?
