Ok so I have been away from Gt5 since 1.06. These issues were always present from launch, but now running 2.01 it has morphed into a non stop 1000 fold meaner beast.

I get really bad tearing, non stop when racing and replays, about one a second. And the FPS is drops heaps. Strangely enough the shadow and graphics look as bad as ever, except now the game runs horrible as well.

Up until now the fps was really really good on my system. Almost 60 most of time. Now it seems like 40-5, 40-5 every second.

I wonder if plugging my HDMI cable in and out in and out over 1000s times has done something to weaken the signal strength or if it is happening to other people more and more>

Spa is terrible in an Arcade race, about 20fps!!! London and cote d zur are poor too!

No fps drop, but a noticeable increase in screen tear, paticularly with elevation change.

The screen tear seems the same as always. The ps3 needs to be turbocharged.

I noticed this too, but it was just after I got my HD TV so I was freaking out.

Yes & no . I've played through every update for GT5 and I remember they did give us a patch that improved this issue .

However , I have noticed that tracks such as Nurburgring GP/F & Le Mans still suffer from this issue . With Le Mans having another complimentary issue of a frame per second drop with heavy traffic whilst travelling along the Mulsanne straight .

When i'm racing , the screen tear issue doesn't distract me or slow me down . But it is indeed noticeable when you're driving for sure .

Will we receive another patch or can PD do anything to fix it ? I'm really not sure .

Screen tear??

Where a line appears across the (usually) middle of the screen, which has the effect of warping the picture for ~1/2 a second. Also reduces Frames Per Second slightly.

I've heard other people mention screen tear in a lobby but I've never had this problem even once. I have gotten my FPS to drop to 35 once but that was pre 2.0 and a full tight pack on 24hr with rain.

Thanks for explaining machate-man :D, I have never experienced this or FPS drop at all

DO you guys think the contacts on the ps3 could be worn from a lot use and this could be causing a problem?

What do you guys run 1080p, Full and deep colour settings set to ON on ps3?

I noticed this and generically called it "lag" when watching a race at Spa. The speedo', sound and general viewing of race was choppy.

Not sure if every room this happens or only maybe rooms in which the host does not have a good connection? (guessing)

Nah man.. you're thinking about network lag which causes choppy sounds and gameplay. Completely different to the fps the game is running at and tearing.

1080p and the ps3 has to create around double the amount of pixels every screen. I run 720p which also increases the anti aliasing by twofold so it looks even if not better in motion. Turn off all post processing effects on the ps3 and your tv and check how it works.

I agree with the OP. I have noticed the screen tearing seems to have gotten worse. Prior to the last update I mostly noticed minor tearing in the sky, buildings, and trees. When doing a race the other day I was shocked to see the tearing has gotten so bad that AI vehicles seem to split in half when it happens.

I've not changed any settings on my TV either. This is all happening after the last patch.

I notice screen tear online because of the lag. Virtually none offline except in city courses.
