Is BMW really buying out...

I heard this a looong time ago, and i cant remember where (likely TV) but I heard that BMW may be buying out Subaru/Fugi Heavy Industries. #1. is this true, because i havent seen it mentioned on GTPlanet and #2. does anyone know where it came from and when it may happen?

I haven't heard about this rumor and I suspect it is just that: a rumor.

BMW is still recovering from the Rover debacle and isn't likely thinking about aquiring any foreign brands in the near future. It is looking to acheive its sales goals via the Mini brand, the 1 Series and selling a lot of cars in China.

Besides which, Subaru is owned 20% by General Motors.

I can only find the GM deal with Fuji Heavy Industries.

Only 18% of Subaru/Fuji Heavy Industries is owned by GM. As of 2004 anyway.
