I've seen videos of rally racing in Gt6,and the cars became quite dirty. And the tutorial message you get when entering the Pit Service says that ''your car gets dirty in races''. Does this mean dirt actually stays on and you have to wash your car to get it off?

If so,niiiiice! :D

Not really, I think in GT5 you used to have to wash your car, but in GT6 damage and car washing is changed after the race is done. Don't fret, with more realism each coming game, by GT9 you have to manually change your oil and change your tire with a spare if you get a flat. You have to buy racing insurance and pay premiums before a race.

But honestly, they took out some cool features but maybe they'll come back.

I would have to agree.. What's the point of having a car wash and oil change in GT Auto, if the game does it for you automatically after you finish a run?

I definitely think that PD should let the dirt build up on your car, visually, and physically (as in, it affecting the aero of your car)... Until you choose to wash it yourself in GT Auto.

Like for instance, IRL I haven't washed my 1997 Subaru Legacy 2.5 GT since the day I bought it.... LMAO. Every dirt particle, every splash of mud, is like a badge of honor... A badge that has been earned, outright! /rant. Lol

C'mon PD, get your **** together... Lovely game, but come on.. The devil is in the details. Get to it!

I think they were supposed to get dirty and damaged after races but they removed that before release. As we could see on some old images posted at the GT site.

I think those features may be problematic right now and they removed until they sort it out. It'll probably be back in the future.

(I hope, those were AWESOME features) Can't wait to have a completely beaten dirty piece of junk.

You're probably right. PD has been saying that features are coming in future updates. :D

I'm surprised I've not seen more on this- cars in GT6 do get dirty! If you watch a replay after the rainmasters events, your car gets pretty grubby- doesn't appear to show up when you look in gallery view in the garage, but then take it for a spin on a dry track and watch the replay and the dirt's still there. I do like a dirty racecar! Now they just need to let you write in the dirt ("I bet you wish your wife was...." etc)

Apart from obvs the much better handling/physics, its one of my favourite new features. I won't be washing any of my cars, ever!

Awesome! Do they show in the Pit Services though?

Doh- I haven't looked, I assumed as its not there in Gallery View, it wouldn't show in the pit. But can check

As far as I know it's only rain and dirt-driving that makes the body dirty. Driving off on a track doesn't do anything at all, for me at least.

Doh.

I just spent a couple of minutes (trying) to do donuts in the gravel traps at Silverstone (dry) - Car definitely shows as even more dirty in replay, but clean as the day I bought it in gallery, maybe slightly stained in the oil change/pits.

After (the slowest ever) lap of the gravel traps at Suzuka, the car started off a bit cleaner than when it left Silverstone, but got much dirtier as I went through the traps there.

If I had my time again, I probably wouldn't have used a grey car for this experiment.

I agree on the Car Wash comment, but as far as Oil Change I find that changing oil prior to using the car gives you an extra 7-9 PPs. In addition, oil change after a few races will keep your engine in good condition as well as keeping your PP up.

Reading the OP, this comes to mine :)

All I know is that after taking my beloved Torch Red C7 'vette for a spin at Chamonix, the car was... Pink, basically. It still isn't as cool as keeping the dirt texture that's displayed while racing on the car afterwards, but still, cars get dirty.

Yes. even if it doesn't show up while you're viewing your car in the service garage, which always seems to show a spiffy sheen and no damage. Japanese game, Japanese gaming philosophy. If it's in the game, then the wear to the surface finish probably has a deleterious affect on subsequent performance. I can't say for sure that it's active if the player has chosen to disable damage, but oil, engine, and chassis alignment continue to degrade regardless of the damage model selected, so I presume the surface finish would wear too. @50c for a wash, it seems a no-brainer to decide whether to do one or not.
