Is it just me or.. (Beginner League)

It seems now that my skills have improved suffeciently, I can win the first two races of a single race Cup with ease. But when I get to the third race the opponents seem faster (of my car seem slower). For instance, last night I got around to buying a car for the Cup and blew the doors of the competetion in the second race by about 8 seconds. When I got to Laguna Beach, I could not make up ground so save my life, even when racing fairly well.

Is this phenomenon just a matter of me not being used to the track, or me not quite being as skilled as I thought? Or do the other racers actually have better cars in that third race. Or am I just loosing my mind (and, yes, I do lean into the corners when turning and have found myself holding my breath on particularly tight ones...)?

Really I think it is that you are not usesd to the track. I don't know another reason for it. I thought the same thing at first but I realized that it was just my in-experiance at that certain track. I would just suggest to get used to the tracks your not good at by racing in arcade mode a couple of times. :)

laguna seca is one of those tracks you really kinda need to know because there are no railings for you to bump off of and lose a lil bit of speed on. on that note, the third races of series are typically a lap longer or even 2 laps longer but if it's a single race series then yes, the cars may get stronger and faster

but if it's one of those have to do all in a row series then no, the cars can't get any faster (not much anyhow they may be better tuned for a particular track) but last i checked there weren't that many if at all in beginner league.

I think it`s definatly the track.I have had probs on new tracks, and you never hit them until the most important race.
I still have problems with a few turns at tokyo but it`s my lack of experience. All in all just keep hammerin`,you`ll get it.

I know what you are talking about. I can tell that is happening but I don't really have a problem winning any of those races cuz I just blow the competition's doors right of their cars with my Esperante. :D

Awesome. I forget what race it was exactly, but is was beginner league and it was one of the "Single Race" sets. Occasionally a car would show up for the race that would just blow the doors off the field, tho I can't identify the make (boy, this post was full of great info..)

i have come to a conclusion that is it a combination of both. Even if I don't make mistakes on the course, I know I am not driving as aggressively as I would on a more familiar route and the oppositon keeps inching further and further away...

The CPU does do track specific tuning, right? and on an unrelated note I hate Special Route 11.. the ferris wheel is neat, tho.

Ubersandwich, I have a thorough knowledge and high level of experience with all of the tracks and I can honestly say that after the first two races of a series the opponents do pick up the pace a bit but if you say you could not make up ground to save your life, then I think it's a combination of the opponents trying a little harder and you needing more practice at the track......Laguna is a fairly tough track in my opinion b/c when you close up on someone, you'll find you're struggling for grip on the corners since you are in their slip-stream and are not getting sufficient downforce....this can make passing rather difficult than at other tracks.......I'd say that at Laguna, the key to being fast is to brake early for the corners and to be smooth through the cork-screw :)

that would explain alot of my spins, many a time have i come thundering down the main straight behind someone, only to understeer and slide out into the gravel and usually the wall.
