Yeah - I do this too...
Although in Fallout3 - I've run out of saves... I can't save any more?!
But the save screen is a PS3 standard thing isn't it...
Does that mean that the PS3 has a limit of save files per game?
C.
I had played, finished up, and earned a Platinum Trophy on Fallout 3 a long time ago. I got a hold of the GOTY version with all of the DLC, and when I started playing through this, I only had one original Fallout 3 game save file on my PS3.
I was very cautious going through all of the new areas, and I did not want to reach a point of no return, so I kept creating a lot of new saves. Eventually, I only had the option to overwrite an existing save. I counted up the save files on the system, and I had 128....so I suppose that 128 is the limit for some (unknown to me) reason.
The Fallout 3 game save files are ridiculously large, but that can't be the reason why they are capped at 128 since I have over 100GB of free space on my hard drive. When I started playing through the additional content, the size of my primary file was 10MB, which is incredibly large (IMHO). When I finished up the GOTY edition, my primary file size was 17MB, which is incredibly HUGE.
Bethesda Softworks really needs to improve the coding for their games, because I believe that these huge game save files are the reason that their games tend to lag and freeze up so much. I enjoyed the additional DLC, but I am very glad that I did not pay for it. On many occasions, this game did not just slow down to a few frames per second, it slowed down to many seconds per frame....an utterly boring slide show. I am so glad that I am finally done with it, and I doubt that I'll ever play it again.
