Is it really that bad.. People are titling it: 2.02 Glitch.. Which technically it is.. I think we should call it.. More of, a Fortunately Occurring Event.. It's something people have always wanted to do, race FGT vs F1 cars. It's practically Cliche'. Another thing we can do (which I have done). The Classic F1 vs Bugatti Veyron Drag Race. Get A video of that on youtube and Expect LOTS of views. I guess I should get to the main point of this thread.. I think Polyphony should just leave it, or give is an option to do this. It's golden. There is no harm in racing cars in which they have provided us to race, against other cars. F1 is almost never seen online which is a sad thing, it's great! If they let us race more cars against or with F1s (only FGT's would be really able to) I think the F1 users on GT5 would Multiply.. Does anyone else think they should leave this or at least make a new option for this.

You mean Formula GT, not Indy, but that would be nice.

I don't know how this glitch works but I'm sure given the free choice they would leave it alone. Licensing and Ferrari would have a different idea of things though. The Ferrari F1 cars are in GT5 under a very specific license that doesn't include racing/driving them against other vehicles.

Also yes the Formula GT is not an Indycar, it's closest resemblance is to a late 90s F1 car.

I hate all these stupid restrictions that companies declare for their cars in videogames.

Nine times out of ten, people compare them in real life - which would have a MUCH bigger impact than doing so in a videogame.

Cars that cannot be raced against any other cars should not be 'allowed' in video games.

The FGT is not an Indy Car, if anything its closer to a 2002-2004 era Formula 1 car, using a 90s engine but with the power of a 2004 car. Racing it together with the F1 cars would be an awesome thing, though the FGT would almost certaintly always win.

I'm with you Mitch. We should be able to race anything versus anything.

And we need an option to choose our opponents.

Yes, i agree.
A glitch that is actually a good thing, who would have knew.

In this case it's FOM (Formula 1 Management) that have most of the say. Generally speaking F1 cars cannot be licensed to games on their own, they can only be used as part of a complete F1 license, eg the current Codemasters games. Ferrari however are the only team allowed beyond this because basically they are Ferrari, they are F1. So they can license the F1 cars to PD but it's under the strict restriction that they can't take place in anything that resembles an F1 race because they don't have the license for that.

Ergo as soon as the Ferrari F1 cars in the game are raced against anything other than themselves it counts as an F1 race and it's not allowed.

It sucks but that is all down to FOM and their strict licensing so take it up with them. We're lucky Ferrari are in such a strong position that they can do what no other team can.

Not neccesarily. The F2007 and F10 have far more downforce compared to the FGT. On a regular race track they should be evenly matched. High speed circuits should give the FGT the advantage, while low speed circuits give the F1's the advantage.

Hopefully PD's patch for this will 'ehem' not work :sly: . If they try to patch it Ferrari/FOM can't say they haven't tried to remedy it, even if the remedy hasn't worked.

Ferrari probably has some rules regarding how their F1 cars can be used in the game and is probably the reason for the restrictions. And the reason it will get patched back out as it was.

Yes, please PD, put this glitch in the game as an official patch, we should be able to race anything with anything.

Have you guys taken the FGT to spa?

I laughed out loud the first time I tried to go up eau rouge

i'm thinking theres no way the fgt would beat the ferraris on any track other than le mans or ssr7

This is awesome but i was hoping no one would post this online because if PD sees this they might fix it :(

The only solution if this is patched is to buy a new ps3 and leave the current one offline, or never go online.

Kaz should totally BS Ferrari into thinking it's un-fixable.

Sorry for calling it an INDY car people.. edited.. wasn't thinking at the time.. and somehow it has sparked more replies then the OP it's self

my thoughts exactly

I guess this is technically off topic, but seriously, how much camber does that FGT have in the rear?

BMW / Sauber also managed to get their 2006 car into a couple of sims (LFS and rFactor, possibly others) a few years ago, and it was more-or-less current (April 2006 for LFS; August for rFactor). Seems strange, perhaps Bernie was caught unaware...

FOM will not take legal action against Ferrari because of this, but that doesn't mean PD will dishonour an agreement they have made with Ferrari and/or the FOM. The FOM could waiver the enforcement of the terms by virtue of the F2007 and F10 being no longer 'in service' in F1.

Try to actually learn the how to drive the fgt. Then and only then will you see the FGT's true speed and power. I race a series with them and they are incredibly quick once you take the time to learn them.(I spend over 5 hours a week in one.) I KNOW they will destroy an F10 OR F2007 around almost any track. Especially the nurburgring.

Try Monza? Spa could potentially be a more equal circuit due to the amount of high speed sections and corners. With drafting I'd think an FGT could make up any ground lost to an F1 after Eau Rougue
