Hi, not sure if this is the place to post it, but i'll post anyway.

I've been thinking of getting a used Xbox 360 to play around with as they come at around 200+SGD with just the 4GB version without kinect. However the next gen console does seem to be around the corner also, is it very probable that the announcement for next gen console will come Q1/Q2 2013? If the announcement is that soon I should probably hold off the purchase. Could use some advice, thanks!

Depends on exactly what you want from it mate.
The 4gig is a handicapped console IMHO.

But after saying that its cheap and if you've never really played Xbox there is a fantastic back catalogueoif games to enjoy.

I mean the PS2 didn't just disappear over night when the next gen came. I don't expect PS3 or Xbox to suddenly drop of the radar next gen either.

Your actually picking it up in its prime. I say go for it. If only for a taster for the other side.

I own both btw and they both come with pros and cons.

The dark side of the force is the path to many powers some would deem unnatural

I'm thinking of getting a 360 pretty much just for Forza games. No idea which console I want exactly but seeing as you can get a new one for £100 (if you know where to look, I suggest checking savygamer.co.uk if you're in the UK (edit: which you are not, I see)) I'd say they're still worth it.

The 4GB one is limited. If I remember right some of Froza needs to me installed on the HDD and I don't think 4GB will be enough. 8GB of halo 4 needs to be installed on the HDD. I bought it and have a 4GB model and couldn't even play online because I didn't have enough HDD free to install the online portion of the game. I had to use another xbox I had lying around instead of my main one.

Could you just upgrade the HDD yourself like you can on PS3. £20 for a 250GB HDD on PS3. That wouldn't be so bad.

It needs the propriety HDD unfortunately.

I would implore Xbox owners to pick up a PS3 at this point in time too, If they don't own one.
PS3 are cheap enough also and back catalogue and diverse games are all ripe for picking.

Amazon was doing the 250g Halo 4 bundle for £150 over Xmas. The trade in value of the game would have recouped almost a quarter of the cost back.

Its well worth purchasing just make sure you get at least 120gb hd so you can install your games to save wear and tear on the 360. It should even come with at least 30 days of xboxlive for free. Live is much better than the PSN. Yes you have to pay for it but you get what you pay for. Plus if you look for deals you can get xboxlive for the year for only about $32.00. Which is only about $2.60 a month.
